So I've been at Epic today since Early Entry (they let us in at 8:30am) and I'm shocked. I expected today to be packed and it's been very dead. I've ridden Monsters Unchained 5x, Hiccups 2x, Mine Cart x1 and Yoshi's x1. It's only 2pm. Very happy I came here for my birthday today!

Shows you how sometimes the loud online noise is just that.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!

I don’t know what answer you’re looking for besides the one you’ve been getting. It's a rehearsal, which is a completely valid reason. If there are any issues that go beyond this, Universal has made efforts to address it by offering something in return. Anything else is simply online noise.

Any sane person who expected this to be the #1 park in the world from the get-go was setting expectations too high. IOA and USF had issues. DisneySea and Disneyland had issues. The parks will always grow and evolve beyond the opening day stuff, which will be just blips in their long history.

The rain issue is valid, and there's only one way to fix it, and that won't be done by May 22.

It’s also interesting that you point out that a lot of the downtime could just be preventative maintenance or filming or other touch ups. If the “issues” of inconsistent ops continue past May 22, I get the concern. But we don’t have a ton of evidence to support that there are tons of true issues (beyond ministry) ops-wise at the moment anyway, right?

Correct.

There's a small chance Ministry may even surprise us on May 22.

I decided to come back today as well after I saw how great the park was running yesterday.

I was able to ride DK 2 times walk on( using single rider) and stardust 3 times (normal line) before the park opened for GP. Might be one of the most relaxed and best theme parks days I have had in a while outside of an after hours event.

I want to add that I think the big kerfuffle this week was the heavy rain, the first storms of the season, and just an unfortunate domino effect.

I've wondered how much would be solved by just snipping the wires on the sensors in the backs of the seats (haven't ridden so I'm just going on what I've read online). I get that people do dumb things but seems like safety overkill when you're seatbelted in.

Seems like overkill because people will move and/or squirm on a thrill ride. If the sensors are overly sensitive to any movement, that's just unrealistic. Relax the movement sensors at the very least.

I do think expectations have to do with it as well. I have tickets to Epic’s first three days. Between weight times, possible weather, possible traction issues, I’m expecting two rides a day. If I get more than that, then I’ve exceeded my expectations. If I get less than that, I’d probably be a little frustrated, but I understand that they have to work out bugs. I understand the risk of going the first three days.

I will still be very excited to be in a park that I have watched from idea to reality. The first major one since 1999.

I’m going to say I was at the park opening and experience a land I’ve always dreamed of as a Mario fan. I had a Nintendo 64. Super Mario 64 came out when I was 1. So I have literally played that game my whole life. To see that land in person, will make me speechless. I’m not a very emotional guy, but I expect to show emotion May 22.

And I cannot wait. No matter how many bugs may happen.

Today was a GREAT day at Epic Universe. No waits and low crowds. It was wonderful.

Rides I did:
Monsters Unchained - 28 times
Hiccups Wing Gliders - 2 times
Yoshi's Adventure - 1 time
Mine Cart Madness - 1 time
Mario Kart - 1 time

Also tried a lot of new food and just relaxed here and there. It was a very fun and chill day. I've gotten very lucky with this park, this was my 6th visit and the park has only been extremely busy ONCE out of those visits. I have two more tickets for this month, the 19th and 22nd. Hopefully those days will be the same but I doubt it lol

There was no lines lol. Also helped I mostly used the single rider line but I did the regular standby a few times just to watch the pre-show

Can't wait to absolutely abuse of that single rider line on my visit. Forbidden Journey's single rider line is a marathon paradise for me so I'm expecting the same to apply for Monsters. Definitely gonna hit the normal queue for my first ride on it though cause I am extremely interested to see what it's like! Also really proud of myself for still not seeing a single piece of footage of that ride. Hopefully all this spoiler-avoidance pays off

I've been served a steady diet of Epic reviews on social media and yes, there a number of negatives out there, but there seem to be just as many glowing ones posted on the exact same day. I really think it depends so much on your expectations and sheer luck. I know one of my preview days everything we walked to was either closed or had a line longer than we chose to wait on, but there were other days everything seemed to work out perfectly.

I also have been seeing many of the preview guests who had those "bad days" saying that they were issued tickets to return another day when they spoke to GR (in person or online through their channels), so Universal knows there are issues and are doing what they can to correct it.

By far the harshest reviews are coming from ride/coaster enthusiasts ("they should have built more rides", "they should add flat rides", "they should have filled the whole park like a carnival", etc) who are NEVER going to be happy with the ride lineup unless they bring Strates Shows in to Celestial park to set up Scramblers and Zippers and other assorted carnie crap. They don't care about the shows, the food, the atmosphere, the other attractions, they just want to ride rides all day. They will never be happy in a true THEME PARK since it's pearls before swine adding experiences and things beyond coasters and rides. If all you want is rides, go to Fun Spot. If all you want is coasters go to SeaWorld. Leave the theme park to those who can appreciate it.
