Calling it a “preview” implies not full experience in my mind. Preview means not full.

A few weeks ago we didn’t think Ministry would even open with the park, so putting that ride aside, anyone who had a bad day this week and went to guest services (or even called the next day) was granted refunds, or ticket replacements, no questions asked. That to me is how they would have treated it if it were just any other bad day at the existing parks. And they didn’t have to do it.

I don’t think this is as bad as Twitter and forums would have you believe.

This isn’t June 1990, yet. And the park was in pretty good shape today. But even if it wasn’t, just ask for a refund.

I think we just like to talk.

I think we’re on the same page! I think most people are pretty happy with their experience and I really doubt that Universal is being deceptive, intentional or otherwise. But I don’t think preview is a universal inference for technical rehearsal, at least, not for the layperson. I mean, “preview” in this context is really only commonly used in Broadway theater, right? And generally those previews are pretty well-polished and are more creative changes than anything.

This is really only in response to the “technical rehearsal means no complaints allowed” crowd that is frustrating me. The replies on the Blog Mickey virtual line tweet, for example, are really nasty right now.

I haven’t paid much attention to the specifics, but there are definitely signs about “technical rehearsals”. I gotta really look but the term is being used interchangeably.

Re: Blog Mickey, I didn’t read the article but it does seem odd to write an article about something that may not exist by opening. But that doesn’t mean he needs to be attacked.

EDIT: it’s addressed in the opening paragraph. Ignore my comment.

The lesson here is don’t spend full ticket prices on previews. If you don’t spend it, they won’t charge it.

If it would have opened at $140, nobody bought them, they would be forced to change the price.

I cannot believe how this thread has blown up!

What part of "rehearsals" is misunderstood?!?

Yeah it sucks that they are charging for them, but if you purchased it you knew that going in!

Pretty sure you can close the thread now @Brian G. :lmao:  :lmao:

You folks can scream “rehearsals” all day long , but the fact is there is a lot more negative press over the last few weeks on socials. I just read more just now. People saying the park is a waste of money, the park is too small, the park is worthless when it rains, etc.
I realize social media has become a toxic dumping ground for entitlement and bias , but it still affects perception.

What’s also apparent is if these problems still persist in a couple weeks , and the “tech rehearsals” arguement will no longer hold any relevance.

I also want to add that the “cost” argument is also a little weak. Even if tickets were $50, people would still be upset if they paid money for a park that had broken rides , terrible wait times, and a lack of actual activities to do. It wouldn’t solve the problem.

Social media is fickle.

Once the park opens and all the issues are worked out all this “negative press” will be forgotten.

Will be forgotten... by the general public. We could very well have theme park sickos like us discussing the mishaps on opening day for years on end

I don’t know what answer you’re looking for besides the one you’ve been getting. It's a rehearsal, which is a completely valid reason. If there are any issues that go beyond this, Universal has made efforts to address it by offering something in return. Anything else is simply online noise.

Any sane person who expected this to be the #1 park in the world from the get-go was setting expectations too high. IOA and USF had issues. DisneySea and Disneyland had issues. The parks will always grow and evolve beyond the opening day stuff, which will be just blips in their long history.

The rain issue is valid, and there's only one way to fix it, and that won't be done by May 22.

A funny thing happens on these forum threads a couple of months after a new attraction, event, show at Universal or Disney opens....No matter how popular....the thread basically goes dormant, and people move on to other discussions. I've always been surprised how quickly discussion disappears.

Some of the angles those pics were taken made me twitch a little...

Also. I want to see the exterior/dragon at night. (They should add fire too)

Previews won’t matter once the park is open. Does anyone where think about or talk about the previews of any park? Folks forgot about IOA and DCA previews! They DO remember opening day and opening summer though.
