I'm starting to wonder which will be the first attraction to be removed in Singapore. This park can stay stagnant for only so long before it needs something new. My guess is WaterWorld.

The Lights, Camera, Action show seems like an easy target. That is currently not tied to any franchise (other than “Spielberg,” I guess), and you could probably cram the new SLoP, Despicable Me, or any other ride/IP in there. Madagascar would be nice to see replaced, too. Both spaces are land-locked, though.

Conversely, there’s also an expansion pad left in the park, but I don’t know if they use it for events or what.

If I was pitching a 5-year plan, it would be for a SLoP ride at the end of the NY street, Minion Mayhem replacing Lights, Camera, Action, and a Florida Kong-clone replacing the Madagascar boat ride but keeping the carousel, and adding a Kung-Fu Panda playground to that space.

So all clones. That could work, considering no one goes to Singapore for the park. But if they want to change that and grab some more tourists, having unique attractions should happen.

Their Sci-Fi area is pretty cool looking with the enclosure. Has a much more urban feel to it.

My guess, is Madagascar is a going.

Madagascar and Enchanted Airways would arguably be enough for Nintendo, as it clocks around to four acres (not even counting the lagoon).

I don't think Dreamworks properties are gonna go because Universal did a huge launch for the Dreamworks Channel across Asia with it being quite popular and getting lot of accolades. Minions is told to replace to Madagascar area.

Singapore budged, Universal got what they wanted. It's not hard to see the forest for the trees when you read that Sentosa will not invest into casinos during the newly-announced exclusivity period until 2030.

Crazy to think that a Universal Park/resort will have Nintendo, and not Potter. That should show you how seriously they are taking Nintendo’s theme park rights. A few years ago, that would have been unthinkable. I also wonder what’s the longer-term strategy here, since this is really the last park Universal doesn’t have direct say over, and if we will see some smaller projects pop up while all this investment is going on.

They wanted the names and the IPs but also wanted the park to focus on youth as much as possible given the casinos would attract the parents.

The Sesame Street and Puss in boots expansions were done on extraordinarily tight budgets because Sentosa had zero intent on investing large amounts of capital while still aiming for a reason for families to come.

Since Comcast took over they’ve been buying back as much park ownership and property around their parks as possible with the exception of Singapore. I believe Universal had zero intent on renewing their license agreement for the park unless Sentosa committed a large amount of capital to upgrade and expand the park.

It will be interesting to see if Universal / Comcast decide to try and take complete ownership of the park or if they’re happy with this latest development for now and will let it play out for another 10 years.

The only thing that doesn’t explain USS’s focus on Horror Nights... but I do see your point. Singapore will always feel a bit removed from the other Universal resorts without Potter. But cartoon characters would be a better marketing draw for families, I suppose.

The Singapore park seems like a relic from a previous management team. I really doubt Universal would want to buy the park outright, unless it can get the hotels in on the deal, which is unlikely considering the owner.
