Do you think there will be a dark ride?

I knew this screen shot would come in handy some day. This is what the Frisco Mayor had to say back in February 2023:

With the updated concept art, it looks like they decided to cancel the large bikini bottom building, in favor of a smaller ride surrounded by themed walls. I wonder if this was a budget cut, or if Circus Circus had some issue with Paramount allowing Universal to either clone their ride, or simply offer a different one. It could be that Universal has to wait a certain length of time like Disney had to do with bringing clones of brand new Asian rides to domestic parks, or a licensing issue, like how Disney can’t have Marvel themed rides at WDW.

There’s also a lot of other buildings that do still exist within the park however. They can’t all be indoor merry go rounds, bumper cars, playgrounds, 4D movies, and restaurants.

The hope is that this is just a temporary area for now. After all, not including the northwest expansion lot, there is still a lot of existing park space that will be left undeveloped, and can easily become expansion areas for existing lands, or small mini lands for future IP.

The mayor said no, but then hedged a bit. I think it's safe to say that there won't be a dark right that appeals to most older fans.

That SpongeBob building had all of us excited! It's been replaced by an uncovered Zierer Roundabout, complete with Boatmobiles.
