If nothing else, this appears to mean either: the venue is doing well financially, or, if it isn't, they're not afraid to invest in it.

Seems more like the former, because I don't know if they'd want to invest so much if it were a sinking ship. Hopefully a positive sign.

That said, I haven't heard a word about the other Horror Unleashed location (I think Chicago)? Is there any progress on that front?

If I had to guess, Scarecrow will probably be the first to go. When I went, it had noticeably less scare actor staffing than the other houses, as well as the shortest waits. While I love to see an original house be represented, perhaps it isn't really resonating with the Vegas crowd that is mostly there for IPs.

It did have less people then the first time I went

That sucks because that house is well done.

At least I got the Scarecrow figure on sale last time I went, great original house/IP but yeah its hard for originals to bet IPs...people just like things tied to brands now

I watched that yesterday and think the changes made really flesh out some of the weaker aspects.

The creative director was asked what his dream house to add to the venue would be if he could pick from anything, and he said Jaws. There was no indication that a Jaws house is actually happening.

He did say he figured out a way to make it work which could bode well for us seeing it there or HHN or even the dark ride we've speculated about. Of course it's only blue sky for now.

During media for HHN this year, when asked about it, John Murdy reportedly said he thinks Jaws would be a "bad idea" for the event, so I wouldn't count on seeing it there. Fan Fest might be a better bet if anything.

The problem with a JAWS house is that:

1) it could be really bleeping boring because you only have the one shark as a monster

2) How could the shark even work?

We've had nautical themed houses before like the one that was in The Olive during Islands of Fear. They couldn't tell the film's story beat for beat but make it a nightmarish version of Amity with Jaws puppets and evil or zombie fisherman. Not saying it's ideal, but if they really wanted to do it they could.

It’s been several years since I posted it and it’s lost in pages of said thread, but I remember posting a thrown-together treatment on there of how a Jaws house could work. It would be expensive, but it is possible. You could pull off a Jaws house if you really wanted to.

I locked in and found it lol. I'm here for it. I'll keep banging the drum of embracing weird stuff at HHN (or Horror Unleashed).

Okay, since I'm bored, I'm just going to write a treatment for a Jaws house just for fun as we're talking about a Jaws house. In order to effectively pull it off, there would have to be some creative liberties taken. Here's how I would do it (This would either go in a sound stage or a parade building):

Opening scene/facade: Similar to Poltergeist's facade, there would be some rockwork with seashells surrounding us and a rock and seaweed awning we would walk under. Above the awning is a forced-perspective model of Amity Island in the distance; some water lighting projection if placed on a...

Any “nautical” house HHN has done in the past too place entirely inside/on a ship (Frightanic, Ship of Screams), an underwater facility (Depths of Fear) or coastal town (Dead Man’s Wharf). All the performers in those are ghosts or humanoid monsters. HHN has never done an “open water” or “under water” house.
