If thats the case, then Springfield makes far more sense than Epic. But at the same time the fact there hasn't really been anything announced as far as future films does not really bode well for it getting an attraction. This is why my mind is leaning more towards Shrek right now. At least there is hype behind Shrek 5 along with plans for the Donkey spinoff.

I could be wrong but the most I see them utilizing Wicked for is a stage show.

This makes the most sense to me. Something along the lines of Beauty and the Beast at DHS.

DCA’s announced Avatar boat ride. Which is rumored to be indefinitely paused or cancelled.

If this is hinting at Jaws being in consideration for the Simpsons replacement, I guess the folks at Creative would much rather have Wicked go to Epic so they can do the IP justice which is the right call in my book vs cramming it in Springfield. But at this rate I would much rather have Universal expand Shrek into this area as that is an IP that deserves much more than a play set.

Anything other than LotR in the major expansion plot at Epic will be a travesty.

Outside of potter, there isn’t another IP in existence made for a dedicated theme park land (though something like Avatar, due to scale, surprised us all).

It MUST happen.

Do we really see Wicked happening? I feel like the first movie did great and then everything petered out. I don’t see people clamoring for it.

Oz, in and of itself. Even if the classic locations- emerald city or munchkinland are ripe for theme parks regardless of what people are clamoring for. Make a great ride and the people will love it.

Also one of the better IPs for a stage show. Whether that be a condensed wicked or a newly created one.

My only thing is it would look stupid across the pond.

Jack from DSNY Newscast even said it's possible they could be pivoting to Zootopia for the backlot. But I'll guess we'll see come D23.

After riding the submarine ride at Tokyo DisneySea, I am 100% on the "new Jaws ride in a submersible" train. I think it could work really well even if it's a bit of a departure from a typical boat.

One of the rumored reasons is they don’t want to maintain a water boat ride.

I thought Pokemon was the big rumor for Simpsons...or perhaps that's what's going into Lost Continent...

If we got a Jaws ride it would be within Universals version of the great movie ride and have a single scene dedicated to Jaws. We will never get a Jaws ride when they add 17 more Harry Potter additions. Money talks folks.

Hear me out...everyone was talking about this type of ride vehicle being utilized for a potential Creature from the Black Lagoon dark ride. Why not Jaws? I'm positive I'm not the first and won't be the last who suggested it..I know it's also a longshot but still. One can dream.

Thinking about it, I don’t know if Simpsons area is big enough to do Pokémon correctly. Today’s the first time I’ve considered Shrek, but I think that could be a good option actually.

As much as I really love Shrek, he already has a space in the Dreamworks area. I don't see why Universal would give Shrek two locations unless they phase him out of the Dreamworks area...but that would be very surprising considering it's only, what, 2 years old?

It's an interesting situation. While Shrek is currently represented in DreamWorks Land, it could be argued that the property is not properly represented relative to its size and popularity. I agree it would be odd to have two different Shrek areas, and they probably are not in a hurry to modify the fairly new stuff in DreamWorks Land. Still, I have to imagine a bigger Shrek presence in the resort may be under consideration, especially with how much is currently planned on their upcoming film slate.

Completely understand. As @mccgavin pointed out, you would expect Shrek to have a bigger role in the park and I think that allows it (and they can expand Dreamworks to take over the Animal Actors stage and do something fresh there) and have either the swamp or Far, Far Away Land. Which I didn't know until now that US Singapore has a version of that there so it seems like something they could replicate here.

Hopefully it would be a step above what Singapore has, that land is lacking in a lot of areas...

If we do ever get a more fully fleshed-out Shrek area, I would really hope we would get a Puss n Boots sub-area. The Last Wish is an absolutely phenomenal film that is deserving of an attraction. The Puss n Boots area at Universal Kids easily looks like the strongest area of the park, and I'd love to see something like that more fully-realized with an Orlando budget.

Universal changes their minds so often it’s wild. Not only do I know this from these forums, but also some people I know in Orlando. They are literally, in many ways, the lyric from Espresso “Switch it up like Nintendo”.

Nothing is settled at Universal until construction starts is my large understanding.

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE nothing more than to have an expanded Shrek area. I think it's probably not impossible given that Texas got it's own land and with the new movie coming out. Hopefully the new movie is successful enough to launch more sequels so Shrek continues to be relevant and evergreen (pun not intended.) Time will tell!

Alt idea: Speaking of IPs seen in the Texas park...wouldn't be mad if we got a Spongebob themed replacement for Simpsons...Of course with either of these properties I would hope for better/expanded offerings than what Texas has for their kids park.

I don't think Disney and Universal want to build water based dark rides anymore. I'm going to pay attention to Dollywood's addition to see how reliable it is.

To be fair, Disney is building the Coco boat ride in DCA. Granted, from the sound of things it's a pretty straightforward one and not on the scale of something like Pirates. As for Universal, I'm just personally manifesting that we're still getting a CftBL boat ride because out of all the themes out there, that is one I shamelessly want a boat ride for.
