Yeah, I don't think it would "destroy" Universal by any stretch. I really think Disney wants the Simpsons fully in the fold and Universal is ready to move on having wrung out as much cash as possible already.

Hey Brickey has some thoughts for how Disney could bring the IP to DLR FWIW:



If Disney wants to strike sooner than later I could see the Simpsons getting its own mini land or a standalone ride as part of a catch all Fox IP land as part of the 2nd-3rd phase of the Simba lot buildout. To me this is what the IP deserves at this phase in its existence.

I reaalllly doubt Disney's ever gonna build a Fox-IP hodgepodge mini-land. I don't think the overall brand is strong enough for that to be marketable. I'd only expect its brand equity to atrophy more the longer it's held by Disney and the further we get from linear TV's days of dominance.

Looking at the Simpsons content they've made for Disney+, they're obviously interested in using the Simpsons to (very) lightly parody their other properties. Maybe we could get a return to the pre-2012 glory days, and have Maggie floating through Galaxy's Edge in a hover-pram or something like what they used to let the Fab 5 do.

Really think the future depends on what Disney wants, not Universal. Universal would likely want to keep the Food & Beverage/Merch aspect, if a contract/fair price can be agreed upon.

While Disney could build mini-lands or attractions (I think they should) at their parks, they already have a good amount of projects in the pipeline. DCA, the likely home to any sort of west coast presence for the characters, won't really have anywhere to slot them in. DHS would benefit tremendously from the characters replacing one of many "dead zones" in the park.
