Looks like the moving mine cart at the false track before the first drop has been broken for over a week. It no longer exits the tunnel as your cart approaches. Wonder if they deactivated it to work on timing and to pump as many riders through as possible? I doubt a simple effect like that would break so early into operations.

Unfortunate as that’s my favorite part of the ride.

It wasn't working when I was there on April 18 either. Anyone know if it's worked at all during previews?

Does this mine cart issue happen in Japan too? Curious as to why it wouldn’t work so quickly .

Not from what I can tell of recent POVs there. It works in every video. Seems like it's still not working at Epic. Hope they didn't disable it permanently.

It had a very delayed Japan opening, though we never did get specifics. Perhaps these Epic issues are similar to those that caused them to long pause it in Japan.

My feelings on Donkey Kong haven’t changed but Mario Kart is extremely fun in person. Naturally, as a shut in, I got the highest score in my Kart :lmao:

I’ve got just over half the stamps already. Will be trying for way more tomorrow when I’ll be alone.

Ok, I admit it. I’m obsessed with Mario Kart. Miyamoto was right and that’s why I’m not Miyamoto.

I do still think they could use a more expansive dark ride like the scene they have in Yoshi’s Adventure but with better AAs. Zelda and Luigi’s Mansion maybe?

My opinion hasn’t changed on Donkey Kong though. A more typical coaster train does exist in Returns and wouldn’t have been out of place. To me the trade off for the jumping effect isn’t worth it and this ride could’ve been more like Universal’s Big Thunder Mountain.

I think donkey Kong was designed for Japan first which is why it was such a smaller coaster then what it could have been. Hoping the next Nintendo area takes advantage of the space and goes all out.

The DK cart that exits the tunnel on the fake turn before the first drop is still broken. Even on opening day it was broken. All they did was shift it forward onto the track more so you see it way before approaching and the lights flash but it still doesn't move. I almost preferred when it was broken but hidden more since it made it appear like you were going to turn left. Now it just completely ruins the gag.

I remember @Teebin showed me info on that DK track western testing site all the way back before Nintendo was going to start its build & open at USF. He had all the Mario Kart & Yoshii stuff back then too...and that would easily have predated Japan if the last minute decision on Epic hadn't come down.
