Studio Tour's Fast & Furious: Supercharged (Closed)

I feel dirty that I was excited for it back in 2014 when it was announced.

See prior to it opening I had high hopes for the experience too.

By and large, while the Mummy tunnel was mode mundane and more connected to the Studio Tour, always felt less of a spectacle of a finale. It had it's charms to be sure; hell I think Mt. Crumpit is my favorite of the two versions of the Mummy tunnel I've done; but they needed something with more teeth and more of a punch.

The problem, as opposed of fleshing out the 360 experience to be a blend of practical and digital and as opposed of giving it a nice ending that suited the Studio Tour, it felt hasty. It felt lesser than that of Kong 360, because of the way dialogue and exposition was handled; alongside the graphical "fidelity" that Supercharged had.

It felt like a bad ending. It felt like something that didn't really work well in contrast of the Studio Tour. In contrast, the Nighttime Studio Tour that debuted alongside it felt more in line with what I would want from USH. I think that was a fantastic mix of blending things together in a way that worked out rather well.

I'm sure we'll talk about it; but I am genuinely hoping the new replacement if it is meant to act as a "Finale" to USH's Studio Tour, actually works as a finale.

The reason most haven't posted in here since it opened is because there wasn't anything significant to post about. Except for the minimal Tram/story video reductions here/there.

Compare the complete lack of activity here to the more frequent -- and totally fair, btw -- complaining people do not just in the Orlando Supercharged thread, but all over the Orlando section. I'm not calling that proof of anything, necessarily, but I also think if the level of hate was equal, wouldn't the activity be equal (relatively speaking)? I feel like that's a fair thing to observe.

No beef. I’m just being brief since I’m on mobile at the parks ATM. Nevertheless, it’s a weird point. I mean, look at early reviews here, and then reviews before Orlando’s version opened. Thierry Coup is even on record acknowledging it was a mistake.

I don't think it's a weird point but it's definitely not one to belabor any further. I just found the reaction performative.

Here's what I know: people hate the Orlando ride. I feel pretty strongly that that sentiment just kinda cross-pollinated the overall opinion, given how dead this space was for nearly a decade, and I thought it was funny. That's all.

Orlando's opened almost 3 years after Hollywood's version, so if anything the Hollywood crowd influenced the Orlando crowds opinion. I remember going to the TM preview of Supercharged back in 2015 and the amount of TM's and the guests they brought trashing the attraction was honestly incredible. No one had anything good to say. I spoke with a former USH Exec a few months after Potter opened and he worked for USH when Supercharged opened. He mentioned to myself and another guy that the attraction had lines of guests waiting to form complaints about Supercharged. Even Tour Guides complained after the night of the previews about how inappropriate they felt the ride was. Hence why they quickly CGI'd some of the skirts on the women. Guests complained endlessly about how bad the ride was. Twitter was littered with people who had ridden the tour and hated the attraction.

If the final Tram doesn't obnoxiously quote this terrible attraction, is it really a proper closure?

Also for the last Tram, they should play the ENTIRE Tram video. Give people the complete torturous experience one final time

I will admit, though, that I hate that we’ll never know why the original agent guy’s voice during the club scene was randomly (and awkwardly) dubbed over a few years later. That they didn’t also dub him over on the actual on-tram video where he’s having his back and forth with Hobbs to go with it just makes it more perplexing.
