Not that anyone cares, but we got in! Group 69! 3 out of 3 times I got a descent boarding group! Heres what I did:

-Location services on
-Closed all of the apps except
-Kept the app open
-Did not refresh or close out the app right before boarding.
-Tapped in and out of the “find out more” window instead of refreshing/closing it.
-Hung our around an area that wasn't super populated which was Lincoln entrance. (Don’t know if this would be a big factor).

Now I look forward to having some of my folks experiencing it! :D

Oh and I forgot to mention this, but I turned off the WiFi. I don’t trust it as the signal has been iffy. I suggest you do the same when trying to snag a boarding group.

Absolutely this. Use data and be away from massive groups and you have a good chence of getting a low group, I got in the park at 8:40 and ended up with group 16 because i did that.

So we got up to the Mickey/Pixar parking structure at 6:45. We were greeted with a line to get to the parking booths. Thankfully they moved them through fairly quickly. By the time we actually parked, it was 7:20. We briskly walked to get to the line at security. By the time we got through security, got to the tram, got off, ran to the restroom, got in line at the gates, and got in, it was a little after 7:45. It was cutting it a little close, but we had a descent amount of time to double check everything was in order.

I was a little scared we weren’t going to make it on time as we had some early morning delays, but we made it. You don’t have to arrive early, but aim to do so as you do have to take into account lines getting in. It was a Saturday and it took me an hour to get from the beginning of the parking line to the inside of the park. Plan for an hour and a half buffer from entering the parking lot line to going inside for safety.

Yup. I stood in front of the Lincoln entrance. Only a few other people were there. Everyone else was up the street or camped out around the hub. Ended up with group 69 (Which isn’t terrible). Would’ve been better to have been further up to look for a more isolated spot, but couldn’t do much about it considering my timing going in.

Hit bad luck on Saturday. Parking seems to be sorted out. I got to the lot by 6:35 and they were running all booths. Tram was OK too. Got to the Esplanade and it was almost full at 7:00am. Got in line but it was not moving at all. Most lines seemed slow but others were moving. Getting in another line is a hard decision as they were all packed. Closer to 8:00 we were still too deep. The CM for our line was extremely slow and had no interest in speeding up. He seemed out of it. He should not be on the front lines on a busy day. It is frustrating waiting 1 hour to get in. I finally got in at 8:03 and got pass 133 (they went up to 130 that day). I was pretty pissed off. I asked to speak to a supervisor but there were none around. I don't mind the boarding pass lottery but I do mind that I don't get a chance by no fault of my own. Disney really needs to address this. they have crated a situation where demand to get in the park is too high at 8:00 am. The need more CM's in the esplanade scanning tickets or let people go into DCA and get a boarding pass there.

Likewise I went yesterday and barely managed to get into the park at 7:50... 8 comes around and just my luck, I'm stuck with boarding group 99 (they were only going up to 81 that day) so I too didnt mind since they opened Rise at 9 and ran pretty well up until around 1 where it just stopped at 58... waited until 5 PM and nothing changed so i just left the park, really disappointing. Hit up a fellow CM and she said the cutoff was at 90 for the day and it reopened around 6 so I was doomed regardless. Parking was a mess, getting in line was a mess, the whole thing is downright a mess and people everywhere were complaining, it was a bad day at Disneyland all around especially with the rain. Hoping to go back once my quarter ends and fulfill the last 2 days of my 3 day Res. ticket. I want to ride this so bad.

Chapek's public slap at Hagrid's opening issues are looking like real big time irony. What goes around, comes around. RotR daily capacity, on both coasts, has been close to atrocious. Like Hagrid's, a great attraction, but horrible reliability.

I was hoping that this ride would have a normal queue by early April. I’m becoming more convinced that boarding groups are going to be around for a long while

I’m wondering when the ride eventually gets to the state Disney wants it to be at, if they will keep the boarding group system regardless, or just have it on “peak” days/holidays. It’s unfair time the people showing up for one day, but it forces people to show up early and spend money before the park even opens on coffee and food.

and that's probably one of the key reasons they stay with this somewhat poor reservation lottery system, namely, they're making a ton of money off of the people who are showing up early, spending money, even though their chances of riding are slim. It's close to being a sham, almost a dishonest marketing enticement, knowing how unreliable it's become, especially at DHS. It's actually gotten worse at DHS, if that was even possible. I would think it's close to impossible for the average tourist that doesn't know the intricate in and outs of the app hits. . I, for one, will never do it (boarding groups) again after our experience with it at DHS.

I know it sucks, and I'm sorry to hear that. I know several people that are going tomorrow that are probably oblivious about the boarding pass system so I feel bad for them.

Did you get to ride?

Nope. We had BG 78, and @UK-Trigg had been there twice before, so he knew how to play the app. In the early weeks of the ride that would have been an automatic number, but the breakdowns have gotten progressively worse. They ended up with around 4 dozen actual groups by the end of the night .. Two girls sitting next to us, in a spot away from the big crowd, got a #5 (first actual number used that day) and a #7, all hitting at the same time. At 4:30 they shut off the non guaranteed groups from the app, and there was a mass exit of people from the park immediately. That tells me they were only there to ride RotR, and probably weren't happy campers....At least in Disneyland there's plenty of other rides. At DHS most of the rides turned into two hour lines with no fastpasses available. About the best most could do was to see one of the shows or do Star Tours, whose line was usually only 30 to 45 minutes standby. It's just a total mess at DHS, a park with too few actual rides.

The part that really sucks is getting off the tram and seeing the line for the entrances all the way to California Adventure, it's really demotivating. Your fate is determined by how fast that TM is scanning tickets and if they are taking everyone's photos. One visit I had they weren't taking anyones photos as they were trying to scan everyone in quickly, re-entering later they would then take your picture. If you're in a party of two or more then the best option is to wait in separate lines and then merge with the one that gets the entrance the quickest.

So I did the same thing as last time, and I got boarding group 9! Only difference is that at rope drop I ran to the emptiest area possible. I suggest you do the same!

Hey all, I’m not one who usually posts responses on here, I’ve been a regular reader of these forums for a couple years now and thought I would share my experience trying to get on ROTR because it was absolutely ridiculous and extremely disappointing. I went to Disney a few weeks back for two days over the weekend, looked up a bunch of videos and opinions on the best way to get a boarding pass and on my first day I followed what I had studied perfectly but I ended up getting boarding group 124 because my app crashed on me two separate times trying to book before I could successfully book a boarding pass, which was very frustrating(no I wasn’t of wifi) I knew chances were slim and ended up not getting on that day. Then I woke up the next day and ended up getting boarding group 62, I was very happy and thought for sure I would end up riding ROTR that day. When my boarding group ended up getting called I got in line and within five minutes of walking through the line(by the waterfall) the ride broke down. So I sat in the line for about an hour and thirty minutes waiting for the ride to go back up and it eventually did. Everything seemed to be going well up until I was in the big Stormtrooper hanger showroom (about halfway through the experience) when the ride broke down again. We had to be escorted out backstage and were giving fast passes to return that day. Several hours later we returned when the ride was back up AND GOT TO THE EXACT SAME POINT IN THE HANGER AND THE RIDE BROKE DOWN AGAIN. Again we were escorted out through backstage and given fast passes to return. Eventually the ride opened again and we thankfully got on and got to experience the ride in full right before park closing. Now I know this is a new ride and I know everything hasn’t been worked out yet, that’s to be expected but come on? They didn’t even open this ride with the rest of this land because they wanted to make sure it was 100% and when it did open it’s still a complete mess? But the stress from waking up very early to getting there by opening to the stress of getting a boarding group and then completely ruining your day by getting on and off the ride several times and having to worry about running over to the ride as soon as it opens in fear of it breaking down again to even being on the ride but worrying the whole time that it might break down again(not to mention hours wasted sitting in line while it was down) for just 10 minutes of ride time was extremely disappointing. This whole ordeal really ruined a weekend at Disney and I could not be more disappointed in spending money to stress for two full days.
