What scares me is that I'm a part of the minority that didn't think Flight of Passage was fun or impressive.. at all... The queue was pretty cool but if Disney is using Pandora as a basis for their attraction standards then I'm not too confident in SWGE. In my opinion, Forbidden Journey is an attraction to be reckoned with and should be what Disney aims to beat.

Im going back in Feb to spend more time but my initial reaction is River Journey is a better complete attraction.

They need to adjust the brightness but the bigger problem is they use audio that doesn’t line up with the effects on screen.

Good thing the guy who did Harry Potter is in charge of Star Wars then isn’t it?

He didn’t.

River Journey a better attraction than FOP?

What planet have I landed on?

Does it scare you that Universal has released two motion theater duds in the past few years?

Should we use Fallon and Fast n Furious as a basis for their future attraction standards?

You can dislike Pandora all you want, but this statement is ridiculous.

Give me a break here...

He's the creative force bringing 'Star Wars' to Disney's theme parks - Los Angeles Times
Trowbridge jumped in 1992 to Universal Parks & Resorts' R&D division. There he helped develop the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, the first ride to combine moving vehicles with synchronized film projectors and 3-D technology. That ride won a Golden Ticket award for 12 consecutive years from Amusement Today magazine. He also oversaw early development of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which opened at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure in 2010.

My bad, he worked on Harry Potter and Spider-Man.

I'll need @Disneyhead to confirm that Hogsmeade and Diagon are mostly Coup/Alan Gillmore than Throwbridge. I think Throwbridge created concepts but it was not the final product.

FJs screens were way too dim until the last upgrade, less than a year ago. Now they are finally re about right.

Saying they are too bright is a head scratcher.

I see the Theme park wars are as strong as ever. Does anyone else like the Pandora rides AND Potter rides? Like I do?

I don't see why people have to "choose sides", or compare budgets to justify their favorite theme park.

it's all just so silly to me.

Me too. Love FJ, Gringotts & FOP....Couldn't sample Navii since the ride was down when we were there......Myself, I couldn't care less what kind of tech goes into an attraction. If a ride is good entertainment, and fun, that's the main thing for me.

Diagon definitely since he was long gone by then but I think his work shows in Hogsmeade. Both Spider-Man and Forbidden Journey are better rides than Gringotts, for example. Plus the detail being put in SWL looks at the least on par or maybe even greater than WWoHP. Then we get to the rides which both seem to be aiming high for quality. All we need is confirmation when it all opens next year.

If I'm not mistaken, the Carousel Domes were patented by him, but outside of that; everything else should be Coup/Gilmore (not sure of the Kuka system though, considering Dynamic now has that on the free market).

Spider-Man, FJ, ToT, Gringotts and FoP are probably my favorite rides in Orlando. I too, think it's silly that many choose sides and try to rip the other down for no good reason.

A good ride is a good ride, no matter what park it's in.

Alan Gillmore is a set designer so he had everything to do with how the 2 WWOHPs look, but he didn't have much to do with attraction design except for interior designs. Coup was the Project Lead. But I do think Trowbridge was the show designer for at least the biggest portion of FJ. He didn't leave UC until after Potter was announced in 2007.

What a time to make an exit...Although, in hindsight, that time did look pretty bad for Universal

Yes, the dark years of Blackstone/GE. Universal Orlando probably came close to oblivion. Any talented employee, whose services were in demand, should have made that same decision. Potter success and Comcast purchase were still unknowns at that time.

I wonder if Gringotts could’ve been better if he stayed. It’s good, but not up with Forbidden Journey and Spider-Man.

Reportedly there was power struggles and WDI made him an offer he couldn't refuse. That's what I heard.

I'm guessing no. Coup was still the lead and they wanted to make the ride more family friendly.

I'm a long time lurker of this thread and have never been to Orlando.

Is Spider-Man really that good of a ride? I've always thought of it as "Transformers with Spider-Man" tbh

Yes, Spider-Man really is that good. It's better-paced than Transformers, features a greater variety of action scenarios, has real fire effects, and offers more impressive and extensive sets.

Transformers is Spider-Man without sets, props, clever effects or good transitions between sets and screens.

Spider-Man isn’t family friendly? Since when? That shouldn’t mean the ride wouldn’t be as good just because it had to be more family friendly.

When I rode it when I was a kid it legitimately freaked me out how realistic everything looked...A lot more intense than I expected
