So, a slight misinterpretation of several quotes from Jim Hill on the Disney Dish Podcast, got it.

That all aligns with what we’ve previously heard about this attraction and the fact that there are six seats in each cockpit even matches with the piece of concept art above.

For comparison’s sake, seven pods running simultaneously and a three and a half minute ride cycle wouldmeans the attraction could have a maximum 840 riders per hour, which is about half of Pandora’s Flight of Passage or 1/4th the amount of an old school ride like Pirates of the Caribbean. You know what that means: the lines for this thing are going to be out of control.

That's only 1 turntable though, right? Six seats per pod. Seven pods per turntable... 4 Turntables in operation. Looks like they missed that last part, and the throughput should be 4 times 840, no?

That 3.5 minute number isn't figuring in load and unload time, I don't think. I've been assuming somewhere in the realm of 5 minutes including that time on the front and back ends.

But yes, clearly that site is only taking one turntable into account.

ETA: What would be really nice to know is how quickly will a new pod of 6 guests be loaded. That would give us the most accurate picture of the overall capacity, I think.

I thought there were only two turntables. Even then, 1680 GPH is very low for Disney standards.

So basically everyone's thought of "what if your co-pilots wreck the ship?" wasn't an immediate consideration on the developers desk?

I think making a "challenging" theme park ride is a pretty brave move. However, it seems like Disney is already "dumbing" down the experience to make everyone happy.

Pretty sure there are 4, according to aerial photos of both DLR and WDW versions.

Maybe they could make a "beginner mode" and an "expert mode". That way the guests decide, and if expert is "too difficult" it was there choice to make it that way. It would also allow folks that re-ride something more rewarding to come back to again and again.

It’s times like this I wonder if WDI actually knows what guests want.

If it takes 6 people to pilot this attraction. What happens when you only have a group of 5? I mean there isn't ALWAYS going to be a single rider available. Does the falcon go into "auto pilot" mode for that seat?

Don’t worry, by the time it actually opens, all seats will always be in auto pilot mode.

Wait, so are they toning down the interactivity? If so, I have a sad.

They could alleviate this by just making everyone gunners, and it becomes a high tech shooting gallery. You could have one actual pilot that controls the ship and get docked "total" points the more they run into walls.

I mean does it really take 6 people to fly the Falcon? Han and Chewie seemed to do just fine on their own.

Or just Rey alone, on her first try flying anything no less. But they’re magic. We’re lame tourists so there needs to be 6 of us.

Truly the only option. Parents who wait 2 hours to have their kid crash the ride in the first 20 seconds (or worse, some neckbearded fanboi single rider who does it for the lolz) would raise hell. Re-rideability shouldn't even be a consideration for a ride that will be de facto FastPass-only. I can't fathom why that idea made it off the drawing board.

I can't imagine it was ever going to be a possibility to truly "crash" the Falcon and end the ride early. Would guests just be sitting in the dark for the remainder of the ride time? You wouldn't be able to leave the pod early just because you crashed. The pod theoretically needs to complete its cycle to the exit point.

I agree, I think it’ll be more interactive than M:S for obvious reasons but I think Jim was told an off hand grandious story of being able to crash the Falcon and he ran with it. Now he’s back tracking it.

ALSO HOW WOULD CRASHING THE FALCON WORK WIH ANYTHING IN THE STORY?!?!

Like really!

Imagine being put on with a few Brazilian girls who don't understand what they're supposed to do, sit there and talk and take selfies and it effects your "score" which follows you around the rest of the land, dragging down your experience. It was a poorly thought out concept from the start which they should have realized wouldn't work from Mission Space.
