I just checked and this land is about the size of Hogsmeade/Hogwarts and Diagon combined. It must be coming in at $1 billion at least. Years back, some were calling for a Cars Land east... this is that land.

Iger has actually stated publicly (at the Shareholders meeting, I believe) that both SWGE being built currently will cost $1B each.

There's room for a third ride in both the Anaheim land and WDW's version.

I recently was at Disneyland and finally got an in person sneak peak of the SWGE construction. It's truly massive.

From the main parking garage you can barely see anything in Disneyland over it.

To be honest it will be a bit of an eye sore from the outside, but that doesn't really count.

But hey whats another few million to finish the rock work on the backside haha

Considering DL's version is scheduled to open towards the middle of 2019, I have to think that we'll get attraction names or something announced during the Destination D event later this year at WDW.

Any word on whether DHS GESWL is ahead or behind a late fall 2019 opening schedule?

Nothing that I know of other than anecdotal evidence, but DHS seems to have made great strides in catching up to it's California cousin. It's still behind, but a recent aerial (about a month ago) of the DL version showed it looking not as significantly ahead as it once seemed.

The main difference with DL's right now is that they've already started to build the Falcon and the buildings in the outpost are a bit more finished. Also, Martin has suggested that they are running the ride systems inside at DHS already.

Thanks. Trying to decide whether to gamble and book a room for a few nights in Nov. 2019 before multi day ticket prices go into a new pricing structure and Caribbean Beach kicks their room prices way up.

He did caveat that it’s a single vehicle and not the whole fleet, but it’s still impressive.

Not on any high level, but it was stated that the ride systems are done and running. They are currently just working to get the system to be able to do one full ride-through with only one RV.

It sounds like just the beginning of the testing phase, but progress is progress.

Just a little update on a part of this project. The entry/exit point from TSL was supposed to be covered and similar to the Grand Avenue entrance. Instead, apparently Anaheim decided they didn't want their equivalent entrance to be a tunnel anymore so Orlando lost it as well. Anaheim decided they didn't need it because of the area it's located in and they already had tunnel entrances. IMO, Orlando actually needs it.

This was to be what the entrance was going to look like:

So are there any thoughts as to what Disney is going to do from the Toy Story Land side to preserve a "reveal" for the land? Or are they just not even going to bother?

Also, I find it interesting that they're apparently using a "We have to do whatever Disneyland is doing!" justification for this. The two lands, though 90% similar, are not truly identical; Disneyland's has 3 entrance/exit paths into/out of it, compared to 2 at Hollywood Studios. This screams, "We need to kinda/sorta justify this budget cut... let's blame Disneyland!"

I'm confused as to what you mean that DL has decided they don't want a covered entrance? All 3 ways into the land at DL have the train go over them so while it may not be a full tunnel it's at least covered and always has been.

Full Disclosure: I don't fully know what i'm talking about

I'm relaying information that @Marni1971 was saying over on Magic. I don't know a ton about DL's version other than it has 3 entrances. But other than that, they're mostly direct clones so I figured no real research was needed here. He basically said Anaheim decided they didn't want something so Orlando wasn't getting it either.

Disneyland's already has 2 tunnel entrances, so it makes sense why they thought they might not need 3 tunnels.

I just don't know what that suddenly needs to mean ours only gets 1 tunnel entrance... beyond a pinching pennies rationale.

Oh ok haha. Maybe they were talking about something else? These are our 3 entrances.

Pretty much it with the penny pinching.

The good news is that the entrance (well, exit for quite awhile) will be a bit curvy so there will still be a bit of a reveal. But nothing compared to the kind of reveal a tunnel can provide.

I LOVE Avatar, but I still can't get myself to go to Pandora. On the other hand, I wouldn't consider myself a "fan" of star wars, having seen maybe 5 of the movies. However, based off what I've seen so far I'll DEFINITELY be there a few weeks after opening, staying on site (to get those f'n fast passes) and waking up at 4 AM to go wait in line for this land.

what have i become

I'm a huge fan of any big new opening ride or land. But nothing can convince me to go and deal with the crowds of the first few months NFW!

Being an AP is one thing, but to invest as much as it takes for a family vacation...woof

Oy, I just can't do this. However, I will happily read your reviews afterward and then wait a year or two before trying to go there. For me, the lines are bad enough but having to wade through the sea of humanity at the same time is more than I care to do. Of course, I say this now but we will see how long I hold out before I give in to the voices screaming to go and ride.
