In the "4ish minute theme park cue" category, I think it's unbeatable. Perfectly heightens the tone of the experience, and supplies a lot of wonder and feeling of adventure.

Wish there was more information out there about how that collaboration happened.

While I can't find the source, I do vividly recall an account mentioning how Disney invited Goldsmith and had him ride a mockup etc. When he came down he was in tears, and they initially thought he didn't like the ride/was afraid of heights etc. But he explained he was moved to tears, because it brought up so many memories of his late father who was a hang glider and would tell him all about it, and I believe Jerry himself has hang glided as well. Additionally, he loved flying and California, so Soarin' really captured at lot of his passions.

Goldsmith told Disney right then and there that he must do this soundtrack. And it's that passion which most likely gave us a GOAT of a soundtrack.

I don't care what I'm looking at as long as the score doesn't stray too far from Jerry Goldsmith's original. That makes the attraction for me.

Having Bruce Broughton come back for the score is the best possible scenario on that front. Perhaps more than anyone living today he can channel the classic 90s Disney attraction orchestral sound that he helped to shape.

I only skimmed through it very briefly, but it looks excellent to me. Really showcases the scenic variety of the country nicely.

Disney has said this is only a temporary overlay, but I hope it's well-received enough to stick around.

I don’t care if they’re Comcast’s home—Disney doesn’t have an America to soar over without the biggest city they omitted.

I could be wrong but are you talking about New York? If so I think many of the buildings have Trademarks and Disney would have to pay to use certain buildings

I agree they should've included Philly. I'm assuming they ran out of time to put it in.
This looks great. This might be the best film they've done for the ride. Hopefully I can get to Disney soon to check it out. I'm wondering if the opening scene will change for California?

For a city that's so important to American history, Philly at least deserved a fly-by.

The way even the shortest fly by of only Independence Mall with a Liberty Bell ding would’ve been enough to acknowledge the birthplace of America for a ride overlay made to celebrate America’s birthday.

Philly people boo everything, even Santa Claus. They'd probably boo Soarin if it had Philly in it. ;) :lmao:

If your memory is only as recent as when Lyndon B. Johnson was in office, you’ve got a lot to catch up on! :lmao:

Sports events ....and all the Philly teams... it continues today and never ends. It's their M,O....Sports fans are well aware. :lmao: They boo everyone, even their own. ....Even their history during the Revolution was 'extremely checkered', with very heavy support for the British, especially among the money people. And, I did teach History during the 70's, so I just missed Lyndon.;):D

As someone that’s from the area you don’t have to tell me, we can always tell the people that easily fall for the national media’s narrative! ;) :lmao:
