I already love it. This is going to be so much fun even if it's only half as good as the original.

I can't wait to see what sequels they surprise us with in the house.

Could this actually be a 3D house?

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I LOVE 3D blacklight houses and consider them a staple of Halloween haunts. I think it would also be a fun way to differentiate between this sequel and the original.

I'm one of those that hates 3d because the sets end up looking horrible lol. I hope this is not 3d. but it probably is.
I hope it has interesting characters. but the sets will look too similar to each other, they look cheap and minimalistic

Never having done a 3D house before I’m looking forward to giving it a go. However practically how have they worked in the past? Do you get a set of glasses to return at the end, or disposable glasses? Also, if disposable how good/bad do they work with glasses? I can’t do contacts so might have to do the house half blind - adding an extra dimension of terror! Haha

3D houses typically give you disposable, prismatic glasses to you as you enter the house. They’re cardboard, and work “okay” over regular glasses if they fit.

That said, I haven’t been told the house is 3D… and it hasn’t been officially announced as 3D (which is pretty important).

I don’t actually think it’s a 3D house.

did you do the second dead exposure?
they give you these cardboard glasses, the effect looks cool but blurry. it's cool but like having fog in your glasses.
my problem is that everything is painted neon colors and the sets aren't that elaborate. looks hideous without the glasses. the masks are also like neon blue, it's technically a cool experience but very ugly.

I did the second dead exposure (zombies in Paris), and wasn’t a fan as couldn’t see where to go. I get that was kinda the point, but just found it frustrating rather than scary!

Maybe this is “3D without the 3D glasses” (I.e. normal).

If it turns out there are there any "neon rooms" in the house before I go, I'll be packing a pair of 3D glasses from previous events just to see how they work.

A fun thought to add from that tweet is wondering what "b-movie" is gonna be popular to have its own house next from this one. My guess is that they're probably done with Yeti after last year.

My thought on the "3D" is, based off of the two-tone coloring of the skull, they are going for the aesthetic of how a 3D movie looks when you watch without your glasses on. Meaning set pieces and characters might have a two-toned red/blue (well, black light, so cyan and pink) drop shadow.

For the 3D stuff, I want to see some purposely cheap-looking 3D effects that would have been used in the 80s. For example, eyes popping out connected to a very visible wire lol

okay so you saw dead exposure 2, I'm glad, now I can say this lol: imagine that DE house with those same sets ( with more lights) but everything painted neon blue and green and there's a lot of fog and the glasses make it hard to see (blurry) lol :nervous: that's the closest I can think of. it's interesting but I don't love it

That's not doing some of the 3D houses justice.

The In-Between is one of my favorite houses of all time. You walk into a boys room and everything is normal, then you go through the Vomit Tunnel with day glow light projecting through the shapes so it's even more disorienting than usual with the glasses making the colors pop and stand out and messing with your depth perception as you are transported to the world inside the comic book.

Then there's one of my favorite rooms of all time as I was lucky enough to go very early in the season before it got too scuffed up to work, it was a room with a mirror for the floor with neon strings running from all different points to the floor. So when you looked down, you saw the strings "continuing through the floor" so it felt like you were walking through a surreal area surrounded by glowing strings everywhere you looked. It was amazing and disorienting.

Then there was another room with switchbacks of chain link fence, but they were covered with X-Mas lights through all the fences making it super disorienting and then there were scare actors covered in lights too moving around behind the stationary lights.

The house was amazing. I don't recall the other rooms off the top of my head, but the house was a ton of fun. And for reference, the 3D glasses are like the "fireworks glasses" you can get that enhance the colors and make them appear to be more dimensional. They weren't any kind of RED/BLUE glasses or any of the kinds on rides. Just stating that for anybody who hasn't gone through any of the houses and might be thinking that.

Cool thanks @Lucky Planet and @Neo - makes much more sense now. As interesting as this sounds think I’d prefer sticking to normal lol. However if they do return to doing comics houses again I’d be up for trying this effect as part of that house!

I'd love to see them try out a black and white room or a comic styled room, much like the Tribute Store last year!

I can't geek out enough about how much the Mardi Gras jester mask reminds me of the Ghastly Grinner from Are You Afraid of the Dark?, a character that (in retrospect, hilariously) terrified me as a child.
