I would rather have this than the FLY coaster honestly. But with the kind of money they would be dropping on this than why not at least a hyper.

Because they already have a hyper, right? I wouldn’t shed any tears over losing Goliath, obviously, but I can understand why they’d rather market the largest dive coaster in California rather than a coaster similar to one they already have.

I got that as a survey question, which was supposed to have a NDA attached to it, lol, so I wasn't saying openly.

Personally, I'm over the dive coaster sensation... once past the initial drop, I think they're pretty boring. Plus, we already have two in SoCal (Emperor and Hangtime... yes, I'm counting that).

But there's no denying they are a big hit with GP, so I can understand it. And it would technically be a giga, I suppose.

EDIT: I only now noticed that the web address in the survey question is from Cedar Fair. Interesting this may be one of the first things they're looking into as part of the merger.

Sooooooo…. Take everything I said a few pages ago about SFMM and a giga coaster, and throw it out the window.

That was then, and this is now.

Cause apparently, the new company IS planning “the big one” for 2027/2028. No other details yet, but that survey that just went out? Forget about the “dive” aspect as that was just copied and pasted from other CF surveys that went out earlier this year. What they are really gaging is how people will respond to “300 feet”.

So I have to admit when I’m wrong lol.

As for 2025 (if anyone still cares). An announcement date is coming soon.

So--focusing on 2 coasters over the three year period; 2025 being the potential (as @ethanuniversal brought up) Vekoma, and 2028 being a push for potential LA2028 Tourism crowds?

One has to wonder if SFCorp is looking at Knotts in this regard as-well; or atleast, if something is being eyed at.

This makes a lot of sense. Giving us the appetizer now and then the big one for the Olympics. Kinda sucks our long-awaited coaster is getting kicked further down the road but as long as we get it eventually that’s all I want.

Went to the park Sunday for the last DC event

It was hot, Justice League seems to be running slower then before....it had a small line but felt like the line was barley moving. I was a single rider so that helped. The ride is not in 3D any more and they are big on you not filming, I was videoing the Q and a worker came out reminding me no filming. Also the outside for this Q could use some shade, its 100 degree's and your making people wait out int he heat with no shade? I just don't get it

The DC event is fun enough but the issue is, its hot and shade is a real issue in the DC area. Batman was literally melting in this heat, his eye liner was running down his face. Got to meet Robin and seems like he is based on damian wayne, he was telling me both Batman and he were trained by the league of shadows.
No Super Girl on the last day

Lots of fun and cute interactions like Wonder Woman remembering a little girl's name she met before
Harley and Joker by far get the longest line and I want to say that the actors seemed to have really grown in their roles since they started back in June. Joker was having a blast with guests

I only stayed for the first dance and villains, it was just a long day and too hot to have much more fun for me. I was just drained from the sun, no idea how people can work 8 hours in these conditions

Hearing second hand reports that Superman was spotted testing multiple times (like 20+) today

EDIT: hearing reports that it opened up today (original post was yesterday), backwards side! The app also says it's open. Seems early reports of its demise from the brush fire were greatly exaggerated.

So with Thursday approaching as other SF parks begin to prepare for the upcoming 2025 announcement; hopefully we get wind on SFMM's plans!

Excited to see what the hubbub turns out to be in the end.

Apparently, Six Flags themselves accidentally leaked a new ride for SFNE... and, uh, it matches nearly all the rumors that we thought were going to SFMM--including being a straddle coaster, and being named Quantum Accelerator. Are we getting a duplicate (which seems really unlikely IMO), or was all that intel for a different park after all?

So we are getting a family coaster, huh?

Ho boy that is not gonna go over well. Honestly don't think it's a right fit for SFMM as a family coaster isn't going to pull in the target demographic.

For what it's worth--I don't think 2025/2026 is a Family coaster.

I don’t see why they can’t add a family coaster

They tried adding family rides back in 2008. That failed. They tried adding a dark ride in 2017 to appeal to the family market. That failed. No matter how hard they try, SFMM's reputation is always going to be cemented as the "coaster park". Adding a family coaster isn't suddenly going to change that.

You really don't think so? I hope you're right. I think having a copy of Arctic Rescue would be really lame.

Even if this were to be a clone of Quantum Accelerator; I think we're forgetting the absolute size and scale of the hillside that has been present; and how that directly contradicts where exactly Quantum Accelerator is being placed at (which if I recall; is mostly flat space).
1723609211414.png

1723609266629.png

Even with Quantum Accelerator's footprint being on-par; let's not forget the terrain differences that comes down to the two locations. Alongside that--it'd boil down to a similar element that I could've sworn prevented SFMM initially when they considered the Dive Coaster. As SeaWorld San Diego and Knotts would already have dive coasters dominating the so-cal region as it stood.

Even with the only straddle coaster in California being in San Diego; I still think people need to consider if that'd be a reasonable call for SFMM to make. Alongside that, if this was meant to be a "big" addition that'd require the terraforming/grading of the hillside; then they'd use it for an attraction that'd stand out with this large of a footprint.

It didn't seem like a family coaster from the rumors I was informed--and that I can absolutely be wrong; but I don't think they'd shift gears as quick as they would think of

As if all the rumors weren’t confusing enough, let’s not forget that SFMM management, during a Q&A with ACE just over a month or so ago, that it wasn’t a coaster, but a flat ride(s). I’ve attended many of those Q&A sessions, and they don’t usually intentionally deceive. So I really don’t know what to make of that. While I agree they need them, the space doesn’t seem to fit that, even if it were a flat ride package

Gonna be real: If this is indeed a big flat ride or a flat ride package....I wouldn't complain. I would much rather have that than what SFNE is getting. A family coaster is not what will work for this park and it's already too similar to another ride that another park has just a few hours down the 5.

I feel like it has to be some type of coaster given they tagged a bunch of trees for removal on the hillsides. Doubt you do that for a flat rides

Let's not forget that SFMM has already filed for grading work for a "new coaster".

And I can't remember the last time they were this protective of a secret project, so take that for what it's worth.

The reason for the secrecy has to do with the Wonder Woman leak.
