I recently took the WB tour, and asked an employee about that. While obviously hearsay, they essentially said they didn't make enough money off the event to make it worthwhile (especially when accounting for all the lost backlot filming time monies)

Yeah, I heard it was a great event because not many people were going

But wish they tried again, now if they had the event like 200 Vloggers would be there night one advertising it for you

*waves hand* Worked the event & was on call as "active back-up" for the entire run due to working staff at HHN too. I almost got to be a Conjuring demon, but Universal had changed our scheduling :sob: ...as for my roles, I was Freddy Krueger & Exorcist "guest".

"Horror Made Here" was pretty much sold out every night. The "didn't make enough money" is a load of crap. Was it perfect? Hell no, but I noticed a drastic difference between "media night" & "opening night" as far as event quality. It just needed minor house tweaks (Conjuring. IT).

They took 2019 off because of backlot shuffling (WB Ranch sold off, new offices etc). BUT they did have every intention of returning. UNFORTUNATELY, 2020 happened + the Discovery merger (takeover). We already have seen that Zaslav is trash.. so yea.

/End rant.
GIVE US ARKHAM ASYLUM!!! (It was so good)

I guess I should be clear... our guide did say it made money, but they could've made more money by keeping the studio open for regular studio use.

But why is really neither here no there. Point is, they don't seem very interested in bringing it back anytime soon. I'm glad I went, and I did like it, but at the end of the day, other events provided more bang for your buck. And some of the lines (especially Conjuring) absolutely crawled.

Yea. The execution was terrible & resulted in a terrible waittime. I'm glad I got to bypass the line to do it

As long as Zaslav is ruling WB, the best we'll get is Fright Fest (for now).

Horror Made Here was unfairly savaged and I don't understand why. I had as much fun there as I had at Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando the week prior. The actors were into it and they had some great gimmicks. The "guest" getting abducted during The Conjuring maze. Pennywise hamming it up for several minutes in the room with the scary doors. The Joker telling off-color jokes about everyone in the room. As a first year effort, it absolutely earned another year of attendance in my book. (And yes, Arkham Asylum was a blast. With another couple years of tweaks and budget, it would have rivaled many of my favorite mazes.)

I went back and looked at my receipt and I paid $49 for a ticket (Midsummer Scream Presale). Honestly, I think that's a pretty good value, even accounting for inflation. And as I recall, I didn't wait any longer than your average HHN house for The Conjuring, which was by far the longest line. But to your point, WB isn't in the philanthropy business, so it's no surprise it died.

That's why the Six Flags issues in particular are so grating. WB pulled off a relatively quality event on their first year, and Six Flags cannot get this right despite years of practice. It's not like Halloween sneaks up on you every year. They could hire someone to do this event.

They made tweaks here/there throughout the entire event too. By week 2 or 3, they had a Freddy/Jason added to the SZ midway for photo-ops because guests wanted it.

Here's a pic of me as Freddy

And that night I hung out with Regan

A lot of updates on my twitter (same name as here), but a short summary:
  • Facades are now up for Willoughby's and Sewer of Souls
  • Facade entrance up for Army of the Dead by Aftermath
  • No facade or sign up for Conjuring
  • Trick 'r Treat construction is moving fast, and there were a lot of lights and fences in the dead end path past Riddler's entrance, implying that'll be the entrance to the maze (though there is no pavement there yet)
  • Speakers and lights have appeared outside Stranger Things, and part of the school hallway was visible from an open doorway while riding Wonder Woman
  • No major visible changes to Saw, aside from the fact they've taken down the strips over the entrance (I suspect temporarily)
  • No booths for Oktoberfest up yet, but a few bales of hay have appeared in the area
When asked at Passholder services, they seemed to have an update that claims all Diamond Elite (and VIP) members will both get into FF for free and get the mazes for free. Let's hope that's actually the case, but I was told otherwise a few weeks ago.

Separate from FF stuff, it's notable that Revolution is finally back to 2-train ops!

I saw a similar claim on a BILLBOARD about 2 weeks ago. I think it all makes sense now. They just wanted to boost their numbers so they could advertise this as the biggest haunt. I guess Fright Fest EXTREME wasn't enough hahaaha

If the event fails, and fumbles this tremendous lead they have with these IP’s, I hope everyone now knows how big of a mistake it is to let them represent any of these properties. What a huge mistake this was.

Not wishing on the downfall, but I am expecting it.
Everyone here saw the drawings on the wall when these announcements were made. Now it’s coming to fruition.

I'm braced for not great either, but I will have to give them some credit for working their butt off. Trick 'r Treat has gone up insanely fast.

And while I'm sure many haunt fanatics will find many faults (which will very likely be justifiable), I do suspect that the average park guest could find it a good value. Even at the higher price. Between that, and the fact that there's now a chaperone policy, I suspect it won't be nearly as crowded, which means you could possibly get a LOT done both in terms of mazes as well as rides.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... while I definitely prefer higher production value, it's not a requirement to have a good scare and a good time. If I just had a single night at a park, I'd rather experience a lot of lower quality production mazes than a few high quality ones.

One of the most memorable mazes I've ever done was Nightmares at Clifton Hill. And it's basically a maze in pitch blackness, with zero set design at all (well, visible set design, anyway). On the flip side, my next favorite was Mysterious Mansion in Gaitlinburg, which is highly themed. So either can be effective, if the cast can pull it off.

Just an FYI the new highest tier pass is on sale right now for like 130 bucks and comes with unlimited haunt event nights entries

So for some might be a good deal

Maybe @Rideguy70 can hydrate excessively & take another one for the team up on Mount Doom. *nudge-nudge*

I'm curious how much progress they've made since there's only 3 more sleeps until Fright Fest goes "Extreme".

Yeah, that's not going to happen, lol. Although not because of the heat, just my own personal schedule.

^I'll be there on Friday the 13th, first stop of my annual Halloween tour.

I am very curious how early they'll let in people who only have Fright Fest admission, but not daytime park admission.

Take this with the biggest grain of salt, but a friend on the inside told me this event (or at least the new IP mazes) should be high quality. With that said, I will still wait for reviews lmao

I want that to be true. I want Six Flags to come from nowhere and be new greatest Halloween destination in SoCal and put Knott's and Universal on notice. Here's to that being true.
