Last week we visited EPIC Universe with my wife who uses a wheelchair when there are longer distances to be traveled. She can only walk very short distances with a cane.

I knew that this park being brand new would be pretty accessible, but I was worried about all the stairs and some of the moving platforms to load into a ride vehicle..

We didn't try to do everything, but we did ride or see the following: Monsters Unchained, Battle at the Ministry, Le Cirque Arcanus, Celestial Carousel, Stardust Racers, Frye Drill, and the Untrainable Dragon Show. All of the queues were accessible with the wheelchair and where there were steps, there was always a team member who could direct us to an elevator. Pretty cool that at Monsters Unchained, there was a special area with a stationary vehicle that you could board and when ready it would join the line with the other ride vehicles. Quite ingenious!

The only issue is that some of the shops and restaurants have very heavy doors without a way to open without assistance. I think there is supposed to be a team member nearby to keep an eye out, but it didn't always work that way. Luckily I was there to help, but someone by themselves might have a problem. I'm surprised they didn't go with the automatic doors

The team members everywhere were a great help and I've already written a note to Universal about a couple of outstanding individuals.

Of course, we have major breakdowns and shows being cancelled, but that's the subject of a different thread :).

Anyway - Bravo Universal!

Thank you so much for this info. When in the parks my husband uses an ECV. This will be our first time at Universal, so I’m glad to have this info!

Please be aware that ECV's may not be allowed in some of the queues due to the tight turns. I noticed at the beginning of some of the lines there were wheelchairs where you could transfer to maneuver the queue. Id recommend getting the Universal accessibility pamphlet which should tell you which rides require a transfer.
