What if the speedo is going to 88mph but it cut the video off before it reached it? :p

I agree, I got excited and read the speedometer as 12(Dec)0(space)2026(year) thinking they were trying to get this thing open by December somehow . I just looked again and see their caption says 1.20.26 which makes way more sense. I wonder what other info they'll give on Tuesday.

no the crappy, underpowered Volvo V6 doesn't sound like that :nervous: . If I ever bought a DeLorean I'd definitely do the LS swap

I prefer the Tao of Belloq!

I've been rooting for this to be F&F because it keeps the most options open elsewhere.

I'm guessing that we will probably see an early 2027 opening for this thing. Universal tends to wait until closer to opening before announcing attractions, so this suggests to me that it isn't too far off.

Will be curious to see if this acts as a double announcement with a Supercharged closure, even if it's mentioned in passing/vaguely like "will be closing in the future".

Hey they acknowledged the thing!

I wouldn't look into too much more than just the info shown. I wouldn't be surprised if the speedometer and stock revving noise were just generic templates they picked at random.

Actual announcement this week and a soft confirm for F&F is still huge!

I'm betting that this is the reason for the early announcement. Universal doesn't announce things super far in advance unless there's some reason that they need to. I'm betting that Supercharged closes this summer (maybe August).

I do wonder how they're going to dress up the corner where the station is. It's just the cityscape billboard right now. Hopefully we'll get a merch store and/or food stand to help flesh it out a bit.

Here's what I can see happening regarding Supercharged- Once it closes for HHN, that'll be the permanent closure. Work could be done in the main ride building while the queue is used for HHN, and once HHN ends, full work goes forward on both queue and ride + the San Fran area if we're still thinking Hill Valley/BttF.

And once the coaster opens, they could also have a "new" area and ride open simultaneously.

I agree with this timeline, but I'm still somewhat skeptical of the BTTF rumor. I question if there is a meaningful ROI in investing more money into that screen/track/ride system when that is the attraction's biggest issue, more so than actual script and ride film. If the replacement is just a light re-theme, I think the reception is still not going to go over well. It could happen, but I'm going to wait until more credible people are corroborating this rumor before I'm likely to believe it.

That ride and screen system works great for Kong. It's all in the presentation, and quality of work.

Yeah I can see it both ways. On the one hand Universal invested a lot of money (and not that long ago) in the Supercharged ride system and I can see them wanting to get their money’s worth. Not to mention how quickly a change could be done.

On the other hand, Universal knows nobody cared for Supercharged. How else would you explain it closing in such a short time in Hollywood? And if the replacement is going to be a beloved and nostalgic IP like BTTF or GB, I could see a light retheme of Supercharged going over like a lead balloon.

This is the most interesting thing to me post-learning the layout. Do they just avoid giving any explanation and have a F&F esque warehouse building plopped behind the NY facades because eh? Do we go back to USF’s movie-making roots and we’re walking into a production facility, seeing what riding in stunt cars feels like?

P.S. would be the ultimate irony if somehow Ghostbusters ended up in Supercharged (I see little to no chance of this) while this F&F coaster sets up shop behind the former GB facade.
