Jeff Shell, TV Executive, to Take Over at Universal Studios: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/10/business/media/jeff-shell-television-executive-to-take-over-at-universal-studios.html

LOS ANGELES — Jeff Shell, an NBCUniversal television executive, will soon take over day-to-day operations at Universal Studios, according to three people briefed on the development. Ron Meyer, who has been the movie and theme park company’s president for 18 years, is expected to move up the ladder at NBCUniversal.

I wonder if Shell is willing to shakeup the studio's theme park subsidiary.

Jeff Shell will only oversee the movie studio side of things. He will not be running the theme parks.

Shell will oversee Universal Studios as a whole. While it's obvious that he won't be running the parks on a micro level, he does have a vested stake in ensuring that the theme park business runs well. If the past is any indication however, nothing will change for Universal parks.

But this shakeup does mean that Comcast is serious about turning Universal into a profitable venture like its peers within the NBCUniversal umbrella.
