Howl-O-Scream Orlando show was the best Halloween thing in Orlando 4 years ago. Now I can't be bothered to drop $99 on a 20-night ticket because it will be exactly the same. A big selling point of the adult Halloween events, HHN in particular, is their ephemeral quality--you're seeing something new and different that a relative few others ever will. Lose that, you lose a lot of your "cred."

This is a big reason improv and unpredictability works so well for theme park shows. It’s why the Makeup show and (for slightly different reasons) the pet show are the most rewatchable shows in town. Uni clearly has talented improv comics - just come up with a HHN frame and let them roll. Cheap and can be adapted to any available space.

I personally don’t like to do the dance shows. I’d rather get in another house or two, but to each their own. I know many people that love the dance shows.

I would normally agree, epically if u only have one night. But as a sorta local and can go multiple nights, I love seeing it.

Great call out. Monster Stomp was the best Halloween show I had seen when I first saw it. Now I don't even bother unless I'm taking someone new or people want to take a break and get some food.

I think the rewatch-ability and constant changes that B&T, AoV, and to some extent the Jack and Chance show really made a major impact. Its the exact reason I like being able to go through the houses multiple times.

Once it gets stale, it gets less fun. Thinking through it now, the past few years the houses at HHN the runs have felt kind of similar especially once the attrition really starts becoming apparent.

I prefer the dancing in this show than the dancing that AoV did. at least this group changes their stuff.
AoV was great, but they were doing some of the exact tricks or dance movies year after year. the costumes and the story and the sets changed, but they were kind of doing the same dance routines,
the exact same could be said for nightmare fuel,
but their dance moves feel always different, and their fire performances feel different.
some of their tricks change.

and I know that someone else will say that nightmare fuel feels exactly the same year after year, or say that AoV felt unique every single year,
but I see the differences in nightmare fuel,
one year we had the leg bike trick, one year we had the strong guy doing the big loop, we had the girls dressed like crows, the fire dancing is different from year to year,

I do not support AoV whatsoever due to reasons not for this thread, but as someone who dabbles heavily into the fine arts, the level of dancing is not the same with NF. I watched their 2019 show almost every night; if there were seats and the show was starting around when I was passing by, I was getting in there to watch. It was their best show at the event. NF is great and Ive seen it every year, but the caliber of dancing was not the same. Checks out though, iykyk

I don’t mind theme park haunt events reusing the same shows if they’re good. I look forward to Hocus Pocus Spelltacular and Monster Stomp every year.

Nightmare Fuel just doesn’t hold my interest and that’s okay. Different strokes for different folks.

AOV's choreography and dancing felt complex in a manner that I could enjoy, but not fully appreciate or understand, and that's no fault of theirs. They were incredibly talented, I just don't know the intricacies of dance. One could easily tell that they were a professional dance troupe.

HNF is middle of the bell curve. Strong, yet more simplified choreography that does not boggle the mind of an average guest. The dancing feels auxiliary to the show, rather than being the show. I think it works quite nicely.

Both are great in their own regards.

The Irma Show, Altered States, and HNF: Revenge Dream are 3 of my favorite theme park shows in recent memory.

maybe AoV had better dancing, but nightmare fuel feels more energetic? faster? plus nothing beats the fire parts. those are truly amazing.

If we’re talking about repeated elements - the NF fire dancing was the same every year. There are only so many types of tricks one can do with fire like this. Twirl the fire baton. Jump through the fire hoop. Try not to burn Auntie Wini.

Clearly the answer to this problem is to instal Illinoise in the historic Fear Factor Live theater.

But seriously the answer to this isn’t “make one all encompassing show” as much as “have multiple types of shows”.

yes, but that's what I was saying about AoV,
the shadow screen stuff or the soccer ball stuff, the balancing stuff, kind of same year after year. the fire stuff is similar, but it's much more impressive

I'm so excited to see somebody twist that big alarm clock, lay down in the bed, disappear, and suddenly transform into a lady with a blonde ponytail. Honestly never gets old. It's so corny but everyone seems to be having a great time.

Like the houses and zones, you need to offer a diverse array of entertainment offerings so that everyone can have something they really like. Each solid HNF show has been solid and (IMO) should continue to be played at HHN each year... with an additional show offering elsewhere in the event.

It doesn't surprise me to hear that HNF is the highest rated offering at HHN.

Reposting and adding my PNG into the fray--seems when the old png by @ThatHorrorGuy made; it was essentially down once the post was moved.

Hoping they use this as one of the pre-show songs.
