That dragon slide looks awesome, and is definitely the kind of ride I would expect in a Universal waterpark.

Whether you like the idea or not, people delaying their vacations is a huge issue. Universal saw that first hand, with the massive plummet in attendance they saw the year before the WWoHP opened. They don't want that to happen again.

The timelines that are being TOYED with, include shutting down PF, and Sindbad's in LATE 2012 or mid 2013, then doing whatever they are going to do, demo, overlay whatever the heck they decide. "They" want to have it as close to completion as possible before they make the WWoHP 2.0 announced so that people don't put off or delay their vacations.

So you will see Sinbad's and PF close LONG before the announcement is made. They want to have things as close to completion before they make the WWoHP 2.0 announcement.

So if 2015 is the year of WWoHP 2.0 (and i believe it will be), look for a full announcement on that earliest, late 2013 or early 2014.

Things to remember if you are a theme park here in Orlando. The average repeat visitor to Orlando visits once every 5 years, so if you are going to aim for the people who came the first year of WWoHP, you want to aim for the 5 year mark, so that they make UO their primary destination again.

--- Update ---

Ok back on topic:

This trademark is the first I have heard this name. I really like it. I keep hoping we are going to see movement, and the master resort plan. I think that once Comcast figures out if it is buying Blackstone's share, or if Blackstone is able to sell it's share and there is a smooth transition we will see a lot more movement on this... but who knows maybe this is full steam ahead... I am clearly out of the loop on this one.

How long would it take to a get a water park up? If announced now, would it most likely be for 2013 or 2014?

--- Update ---

I just looked up Aquatica and it was announced July 2005 and opened to guests March 2008.

At least two years, they would benefit if they would relocate a lot of the rides from Wet N Wild

I hope they don't do that, that would just be cheap.

How is that stupid? I think it's really smart because people LIKE those rides. Plus, if they revamp them with a theme or something, why would you have a problem with it?

I dunno, it would just seem like a cheap thing for uni to do, have some of the rides in their new waterpark be old rides.

I think it'd be smart too. Wet N Wild has great slides. Mixed with Universal's theming and new offerings, we could have a near full day water park in less than two years.

Yes, my designs for the park I was designing called for the Wet 'n' Wild slides themselves, but all of them with a brand new extremely extensive theme; it would not be tacky.

I meant if they keep it as is. If they revamp and retheme them all, then it would be a lot better.

It's Universal, of course they're going to theme them.

I think revamping the old Wet n' Wild rides, at least the popular ones, would be a great idea. Then you already know you have rides people will love.

Why move old ones when you can build new ones from scratch that are just as good? That way your theming is not restriced by a layout that is already determined.

Because you save money since you planned on moving the rides in the future years ago.
