New Tomorrowland Rumored for DL

If that Cars trackless all-terrain ride system they're putting in Magic Kingdom is great, I wouldn't mind a version in Disneyland Tomorrowland. It could replace Autopia and have an out-of-this world phosphorescent alien landscape of weird mountains, rock formations, and tunnels. That would be fun to drive up and around, day or night.

Love the idea of a Mars Rover-type attraction in place of Autopia.

Dialing the clock back on a "Pure" and idealistic Tomorrowland would be more interesting than anything sleek and modernized. A reflection to see what was possible then, for the sake of the futures we have now. A F4 themed darkcoaster headlining the redo with a variant of the Intamin MDC system would unironically go great if it was with stuff we've seen from Intamin's MDC mockups.

You know if they were to do a “Carousel of Progress” inspired ride with the F4 characters, I can see them taking over Launch Bay and Pizza Planet with a modern take of the idea; but with the Intamin Dynamic Motion Stage.

It has been said when Intamin debuted the model I believe for operational use with Danae Macabre, WDI and Universal apparently flew to Efteling to see the damn thing. That might make for a fun choice, if they’re thinking what we’re thinking.

Tron Aries is coming out and it looks like it may be a very good Disney movie. If this does well, especially considering all of the flops they've been having lately, I'm sure Disney will really want to bring Tron to DLR.

Now, I know a copy + paste of the Tron coaster could happen if they really (And I mean) REALLY wanted to....but what if they decided to make an alternate version of the Tron coaster? Who said that if they were to make a Tron E-ticket, that it would have to be a clone of what's in Orlando? Maybe they could also go for the ominous dark red aesthetic that the new movie is trying to push?

I really hope Aries does well not just because it looks good, but maybe this will convince the power-that-be to finally give Tomorrowland some love. A Tron coaster (Not a dark ride!) is what the park needs! Also DLR reeeeeeally needs some coasters.

Hey Brickey recently uncovered a patent that will redo that corridor area on DL Drive not only for Coco but also for the access point to Simba. Sounds like they want to beef up DCA as much as they can to absorb the capacity blow when TL goes down.

I'm thinking the same thing, Disney knows Tomorrowland is an issue... they just don't know what to do with it and need more time. All of these announced projects have only been in the works since 2023 once Disney corporate greenlit the parks to "turbocharge" the division.

It's clear to me that Disney prioritized projects for the western side of MK first (Big Thunder refurb and Villains/Cars) and DCA's remaining "empty slots" to get things rolling. All of the projects announced are custom designs for their respective locations that have been previously considered/rumored, so it was easier to approve those versus working on a project where both coasts have to "agree" on the same idea.

My assumption is that Tomorrowland's concept is changed similarly to MK's Frontierland (essentially allowing Disney to stretch what's allowable within the land). DL is built at a smaller scale than MK, so Tron would likely be a smaller structure, but larger footprint to keep things down in scale?

I've always liked the idea of a more timeless Jules Verne look at Tomorrowland....and very steampunk, even more so then the Paris version. That

I like the idea as well, though I sort of prefer the aesthetic of DL's Tomorrowland in 1967. Lots of moving kinetics and "clean" design.

While I'd love a more Discoveryland Paris look, not sure how they can fit Tron into that aesthetic, so I think they've unfortunately prevented themselves from following that aesthetic in MK at least.

With Tron Eres coming out this weekend, I’m going to post this to get this off my chest:

It is looking like Tron Eres is going to be another box office flop for Disney. Sucks because I was very mixed about the whole movie, ESPECIALLY with Jerred Letto being in it…but I wanted this to do well so they could finally have an IP that would “sell” new Tomorrowland. Well now it’s looking like that won’t happen.

I’m not privy to any of Disney’s decisions and obviously I don’t have any hard date to off of, but knowing how Disney operates in their past, they will most likely look at the faultier of Tron Ares and think that nobody wants Tron in their parks…NO. It’s because this is not the movie Tron fans wanted. We sure as heck didn’t ask Morbius to be in it.

We WANT Tron for Tomorrowland. Tron SCREAMS Tomorrowland. It would be a perfect asthetic for it. Now Disney execs are going to learn the wrong lesson here.

I firmly believe the best way to go about redoing TL is to have an alternate version of the Tron coaster take over Innoventions and match the feel of the whole land for that. I REALLY hope I’m wrong and being hyperbolic here, but sadly I don’t see that being a reality.

If Disney is waiting for the next big box office juggernaut that would “work” for a Tomorrowland redo, it will not happen. We’re all gonna grow old and still see the People Mover track rotting away. Just do a Tron theme and be done with it. This is what the fans want Disney. Do not go off the box office of a movie that Tron fans didn’t want and that you ruined from your own interference.

I mean if Disney wants Tron to be a thing...maybe hire writers next time, lol (didn't hate the film but they hired one of the most unlikable actors and the script was bare)

Sometimes, its like they don't want the films to do well, like Wish taking out the interesting Villains couples for one of the most boring vilains of all time

Anyway, TL is like 10 years away still from being touch as Fresh baked pointed out, people still flood this land...people sadly don't care if it looks like a dated mall.

My idea for a Tron ride if we can get one is another kind of la down coaster but just smaller, so it can fit at Disneyland. The video believe is the type of coaster Disney could get but make it mostly inside with cool visuals

I just want them to do something at this point. At the very least bring back the People Mover. You're definitely not alone in that sentiment about the Peoplemover. It's strange to think that if not for the 1998 changes, we could theoretically still have a Peoplemover and maybe even the Rocket Jets at the very least. Now with potential structure issues, compliancy and code problems, and the fact that the track runs through and over just about every attraction on that side of the park, it seems more distant than ever.

As far as Tron goes, if they found a way to bring the ride here that is cool. I think it's futuristic looking and fits well. It seems like they can flip the light color to red if they really want and play some NIN to mix it up every now and again too. Not sure I want an entire Tron themed land, though.

I also am hoping for a retro future approach. But one thing I'm also hoping for is that they move away from the "fair pavilions" approach to an "urban approach." By pavilions, I mean that Tomorrowland has long been comprised of individual landmark structures with an almost world's fair or university campus scale and layout. I would rather them build a richly detailed and complex and colorful futuristic city that feels more believable and urban as a city. Something more like the Zootopia land or Toon Town in terms of playfully representing aspects of everyday future city life, with tons of Easter eggs from the history of sci-fi pop culture. Retro future billboards, businesses, street furniture like mail boxes and benches, vehicles, stop lights, and lots of kinetic movement like Zootopia. Kind of like if Epic Universe's Ministry of Magic Paris was done as a retro future city...so you can sit in an outdoor cafe and soak in all the action and details and imagine being a future city resident.
