I would also add that I don't think it's a useful substitute for meaningful political action. We've been doing this for more than 10 years and it's clear that bringing up awareness to abhorrent views doesn't make the person speaking them, nor their ideas, less powerful.
I'd argue, if anything, the vocal online backlash ("""cancel culture""" for want of a better term) actually made things worse. The backlash to the backlash has been, well, not great Bob.
I'm not saying we shouldn't condemn views that harm people, but I am saying that the personal isn't political. Buying a Harry Potter book, or not buying it, is not a political act.
