isn’t the answer to this that universal has biased itself toward newer releases/IP over the past 20 years and leaned less and less on its classic films? it seems like this resurgence in park usage is a corrective to what always felt like a so-so strategy.

that’s not to say they should only focus on tentpole films from the 70s and 80s, but that they should better leverage those in addition to capturing what’s hot right now.

Agreed and while some may disagree with me the Monsters have gotten that not only with Epic but at USH they get a house every year...to me thats something

Anyway if BTTF is the thing that gets the most lines (which it might due to capacity) I hope if we get more Fan fest it comes back..and hopefully they can find a way to a permit part of more parks.

Also another thing I did not know was "Power of Love" was made for the film...no idea thought it was just a 80s song that fit the film and used it.

I'd honestly love if they did something that merges the old Universal Experience concept with what people like about the tribute stores -- that is, a walk-through museum, of sorts, where each room is heavily and uniquely themed to one of their IPs. Have a room themed to Doc Brown's house or Institute of Future Technology for BTTF; have another room be a forest themed to ET; another room with an Amity theme for Jaws; a Whoville room for the Grinch; a number of opportunities for Universal Monsters or even Chucky... and so on. Each room could be filled with props on display that are otherwise collecting dust somewhere, and photo op opportunities with preserved puppets/animatronics or backdrops/figures, whatever. There's so much history to be mined that's just sitting in a warehouse, and even though "having rides" is the best option, I'd rather have an immersive stroll through their franchises over nothing at all.

Yes the lack of a prop museum is still sorely missed. The scraps we get in the Jurassic world store and guest relations is not enough.

Big agree on this. I love rides, but part of the reason theme parks are great (when they’re great) is how much enjoyment you can get from just walking around and looking at stuff. Would love to see more of that at all parks, but especially one with as rich a history as USH.

It would make for a fantastic full-service restaurant….something the park could use

As per recent Google Earth sats, we finally have a clear look atleast from April 5th; to the absolute size of the Hillside project. It is not up to date, but we atleast now have a sense of scale.

I'm immensely surprised about the scale of the retaining wall once all is said and done. Also have to imagine they now are working at turbo-speed ahead of HHN starting.

Oh interesting. I see what they’re doing now. They’re literally getting rid if that hillside in front of g if the wall. That will create more E-space. Great for the longterm!

They have begun digging to the base of the mountain itself!

Is this still JUST a storage building? This project just keeps progressively getting more insane

No--this is not going to be a storage building.

Been looking into it further and the "Utility Events Space" that has been noted in permits, seems to be a flat lot that will be of use for whatever the park needs of. While they aren't going to redevelop it now in the short-term future for expansion; it seems it's purpose will be for seasonal events.

This is 100% confirmed like I said before… there’s literally an email saying they are building event space for future events.

Yep--the fault lies on me in the past for thinking it'd mean something more in the immediate future than that. Consider that more of ignorance, from when this was really beginning to fully formulate.

What it will be is exciting for the short term future though; now that I have a grasp on it. I can already see how it'd work too in considering for seasonal endeavors at either FFN or HHN (even if it's more than likely just HHN).

I mean, this is still way more exciting than a few months ago when the rumor was that it was literally just a big storage shed. It’s going to be nice to have a “black box” type of space that they can just throw whatever onto, whatever that ends up looking like
