Presumably just a space where they can build HHN houses with greater ease, rather than erecting shacks over pre-existing queue space.

If the event space is going to be used for HHN, this is clearly being done in advance of SS 16-24 going for theme park usage.

To add a bit of context, it seems Perera also helped with the infastructural upgrade towards that of the bridge that connected the plaza to the park, alongside the installation of the planter wall and billboard for the NBC promotion (it was the same billboard used for USH60).

They also have done work for the nearby Autrey Nature exhibition building.

Sorry but I don't speak utility event space.

Are we leaning towards this area they're working on be a straight up new HHN venue?

I don't speak utility event space either, I don't know the beep boops.

In all seriousness, Perera's background makes me wonder what would be the purpose of them being onboard a project like this (and I'm excluding the fact that their main projects with USH were centric to the Studio Tour). Most of their projects are renovation projects, or projects that are alongside other elements.

I also think it's interesting that Cow Missing is the one trying to reaffirm that it is a Studio Tour project. Recently they posted previs of what appeared to be proposals of a tech services relocation project, one that would be taking the lot next to ET (the one that was used as a staging/test area for SNW) and to convert that space into facilities that would replace what is the set over by H-Lot and Universal Cinema.

Perhaps there might be something worth it given Cow Missing was able to find and uncover stuff like that?

So it’s possible it could be a new Tram loading area?

if this for moving the Tram then....why are some on here straight up like this is nothing?

I mean we have people on here who do rumor content and they said this is not anything to get excited about

We also had like people on here making fun of those hyping it up that should have knowledge of this project...so really confused on ho this could be for the tram when others are saying they will end up with egg on their faces

It seems that some of the posters here have seen hard evidence that states this is a utility event space, while a lot of posters here have been speculating this is part of a massive expansion, in part fueled by a few people on social media hyping this up. Some posters here are trying to cool that down so people’s expectations are in check assuming it is that event space. AFAIK the CowMissing post is the first actual “rumor” that was posted, and Universal HIGH is the first person to actually present real evidence to back this being anything interesting up.

It could be either, it could even be infrastructural work for a short term project that’ll make way for something down the line, but i don’t think it’s a bad idea to caution people from jumping to lofty conclusions (especially for a park that’s had so many false rumors)

With a little brainstorming and a little
Spare time for the holiday season…behold! My master armchair plan for the Mummy replacement! I bring this up not just to armchair here, but I predict this is within the ballpark of what they want to do: a main plaza to open up space. Here, my armchair plan would resolve a lot of issues the park faces: A desperately needed lower lot expansion, more shows, more foot traffic space, a relocation of Panda Express for a Nintendo expansion for that current plot, and a new dark ride! Let me lay out my plan for you.

So for those in the know, I have repurposed those old plans for the SLOP trackless dark ride into Ghostbusters. Basically the old plans for SLOP into GB. For those out of the loop, the entire first floor would be used for queue space and a small restaurant and a gift shop. Here, the restaurant will be shrunk a little bit and has been “downgraded” to a snack stand called Slimer Diner. It will serve Ghostbusters themed snacks and treats. Of course, the exit gift shop will be Ray’s Occult….or just be called Ray’s to not offend the homeschooling moms.

Now slightly above it will be a slightly expanded Starbucks facing the main pathway. In the same building, we will have the Monster Make Up Show which would be similar to USF’s show. For this version, there would be a waiting room lobby with some museum pieces related to different horror and sci fi movies Universal has done…now here’s the cool part. This version would have stairs that would lead up to a second floor where the small theater would be above the expanded Starbucks. Once the show is over, there would be some stairs that would have exit doors and an alternate exit that would lead into the Starbucks.

In the center will be a small fountain and some trees to provide some shade and green. There would also be a pretzel and popcorn stand as well as a small pizza stand like USF has for theirs.

Top left hand is a larger ice cream shop and (another thing the lower lot desperately needs) MORE RESTROOMS. In the same building is also where the relocated Panda Express would be. The biggest difference with this Panda is that most of the seating will be upstairs. There would be indoor seating above the ice cream shop and restrooms.

Finally, Jason Bourne stunt show. Pretty straightforward but you would exit into a small gift shop that would face closer to the AA road. Oh and the theater is a little bit smaller accommodate more space for everything else.

So there you go. That’s my personal armchair plan to maximize the Mummy space with two (Much needed) shows; a new E-ticket dark ride, more restrooms, more breathing room for crowds. A bigger and relocated Panda Express, and a bigger Starbucks. That thin wall at the top can also have a door that can be opened to make way for HHN access. It would also leave that area open for an eventual entryway to the park expansion where those sound stages are. Again, this is a mix of speculation and armchair wishful thinking. Curious to hear your thoughts on this!

I like the idea of opening it up and making it a plaza. One thing I would get rid of entirely is the Panda Express. There’s no need for it in a theme park. You can get that food anywhere.
I would be said to see The Mummy go, but we all know it is inevitable.
I would also be sad to see the original commissary torn down (where Panda currently is).

Pretty efficient use of the space in the graph. Plus you would also get SS 16-24 as well.

At least the expansion planned for the lower lot should have a D ticket family dark ride as a given (one that improves upon the flaws of Pets) and an E ticket. Maybe the E ticket could also be an opportunity to port over the Battle of the Ministry ride system to USH.

Unfortunately they just spent a lot of money renovating it

FWIW - more word has come out. The hillside is being cleared to become a retaining wall.

Makes sense, I wonder what was wrong with the old one, or if they're pushing the hill back. They did something similar at the Studio Tour Plaza like a year or two ago due to a crack iirc so maybe this is a similar situation.

Also forgot to mention here, I did some digging and Perera Construction has been doing work in USH consistently for years. They were involved with the Filch's Emporium expansion and I believe F&F:HD to some extent. So not just tram related projects

The fix they had done was just temporary. I’m sure this will look more professional.

Even though the work is being done primarily for a retaining wall, is it possible they're going to remove part of the hillside which would thereby expand the lower lot?

No.

I mean anything is possible but nothing is leading to that conclusion other than he said she said posts on here.

I wonder if the once planned expansion of the upper lot footprint will ever happen - have to say that's what I thought this might be when the original land clearing started, but guess if that was to happen it would be after Simpsons gets demolished.
