Legoland dropping $90 million on Disney/Universal Studios-style indoor coasters
"The owner of Legoland theme parks announced Tuesday that a new indoor roller coaster is coming to Legoland California next year.
London-based Merlin Entertainments said a matching coaster is being built at Legoland Florida for a combined cost of $90 million — the biggest attraction investment in the parks' histories."

I guess the total cost for both coasters (Florida and California) is $90 million, so $45 million per coaster? How does that cost compare with typical coasters?

I'd probably say it's closer to one of the higher expense based developments of the Gigas from Six Flags (albeit higher).

I think it's been said this is a Intamin MDC; similar to what is being done for Minecraft in Chessington.

Just looked it up. So basically a *slightly* smaller of Uncharted at Port Adventura? That’s a lot more substantial than what I was expecting!

I do hope they resurrect that Vekoma madhouse we were supposed to get eventually.

According to Screamscape, Legoland CA is set to open GalactiCoaster and its surrounding attractions on March 6th! That’s fairly soon!

TPI posted a walkthrough of the preshow, queue, and loading area for GalactiCoaster. They really threw some money into this!

I haven’t been to Legoland in 12 years so I think this will finally be the ride to get me to come back. I know not the target demographic, but 40 mph sounds like it will be a good ride!

I get the impression they’re trying to dip their toes into more heavily themed rides and gear more towards rides families can enjoy and not just kids. I think would be in Legoland’s best interest to invest more into dark rides and family coasters.

That being said, I do hope they resurrect the madhouse plans eventually. It’s small enough it could go elsewhere in the park. I think they made the right call to go for this though.
