Grimoire never seemed to really find its footing, and Mesmer is loved, but it is time for something new.

Curious if Origins is going to make it a few years or just one more.

I’m a little surprised Mesmer is being retired before Wax Works or Curse of Calico. I’m not surprised Grimoire is getting the boot. I appreciate the effort, but it never worked for me.

It’s possible I’m misreading you, but Wax Works was retired last year.

Yeah, Grimoire had a really interesting-sounding premise, but I think the execution of the idea leaves most people confused. I must say I have had some great scares in there though.

I would love for Origins to be overhauled instead of replaced — I feel like it’s kind of the thesis house for the event at this point.

Definitely gonna' miss Mesmer, absolutely loved the theme and its trance-like tone. Grimoire was neat and had its moments, but for such a long house it didn't quite hit like the others.

As for Origins, there is rumblings they're tweaking it this year, so that can very well give it another year or so to its lifespan.

They also mentioned during the Midsummer panel that Grimoire's location was actually supposed to be switched with Bloodline 1842. Some COVID related issues caused them to change it. It would have been interesting to see how that could have changed the maze.

As Knott's get ready for Nightmares Revealed tonight, they spent the weekend at Midsummer Scream revealing a few tidbits about this year's event.

Knott's Scary Farm teases 2025 event at Midsummer Scream

It won't be long before the fog rolls into Buena Park. At Midsummer Scream, Knott's presented information about the upcoming attractions for Scary Farm this year. The big focus was on the two retiring mazes, being The Grimoire and Mesmer. This keeps pace with two retirements each year, leaving

Two new mazes: The Zoo and Mary.

The houses sound better than last year for sure! Looks like those IP rumors were false though. I love the feature of having the Zoo turn out all the lights at 11!

Considering animal hybrids and whatnot is a theme I've been wanting to see anywhere, The Zoo is absolutely the kind of announcement that'll get me to drop by for a night when I'm doing a little weekend Disneyland visit this October. That alone is an instant sell for me, the lights out experience is just a sweet extra at this point!

Mary is a pretty darn good concept as well, so I'd say both mazes are pretty exciting!

I missed it I think. What show is happening in the Charles M Schulz theatre?

Intriguingly enough, nothing was announced for that theater. The three shows are The Hanging: There's a New Tariff in Town, Conjurers and the Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque as usual.

Also, going off the concept art, The Zoo is replacing Bloodlines, and Mary is going where Wax Works was.

So unless if I am misremembering how this works, @Parkscope Joe and @Brian G. could correct me; I think Bloody Mary is a IP due to the nature of Bobbie Weiner? Knotts would've had to get licensing for the branding of Bloody Mary as a "Character"/concept, and it seems from the trailer they're going to go full on in the element of Bloody Mary in establishing the myth proper.

Ah cool. So I didn't miss something. I wonder if they'd move the Hanging from Wagon Camp.

EDIT: I checked the haunt website, Wagon Camp for Hanging again, no mention there either of anything for Charles M Schulz. This is the first Haunt under the new Sick Flags banner (I think), maybe they thought they'd save money by having nothing on in there.

I would've loved an Arkham Asylum haunt as well, so I feel you there. But at least you weren't one of the folks who fell for the Christmas maze, bet their hopes "Ginger Snap'd" at the news.

And I did appreciate Knotts was able to play around with the fake themes again, I know they can't do it every year for obvious reasons, but it did its job once again of throwing folks off the trail and having a bit of fun.

As for the Arkham house--I had been on the train since the start that it didn't make sense logistically.

I genuinely think the only reason why there are IP's from WBD for SF Fright Fest, is likely out of a legal contractual element of the licensing that'd come from a multi-year contract. Once that ends, which I have to think is coming near; they will remove WBD from the equation of Fright Fest for the sake of The Conjuring.

I never understood the rationale of Knotts going for Arkham. And while I was off on the idea of it being a "Prison/Asylum" house; I think The Zoo hits a certain note that has been missing for a while from the haunt scene.

Hybrid concepts are cool, and i'm down to see what Knotts thought of (especially with the op element of the change-over to a flashlight only house after x amount of time).
