The majority of the launch tunnel is below the grade due to the significant difference in terrain height from the waterfront to inside JP.
Not entirely underground, but it definitely is below other foundations and the ground for the majority of it.

Just because I am bored and can't keep my thoughts to myself but those are the tops of the footers and the ground they are sitting in is 60 feet down.
OK, Don't mind me, just a whisper on the internet

But it doesn't appear to be below the grade from what would be the the area from the top to the bottom of the top hat, meaning it would need enough velocity to clear between 160-170 vs an additional 10-15 below that grade. So yes, it is below the grade of the first half (which consider to be the top level of the discovery center, but leveled with the bottom level (thus not being "underground")

My question is how do you remove a crane that's completely boxed in like that?

For something like this i'd venture to guess its a self building crane. Nowhere to set up a "break down" crane once all the track is up.

Maybe, it all depends on how tall the track is in that area, that will determine the reach required. I really don't know, I'm just speculating. It just looks very congested in that area.

It's "underground" relative to the beginning of the launch, but the terrain slopes down toward the waterfront area. And the other points above the water on the return run seem to be a bit lower than the bottom of the launch.

I studied some of bios' photos he posted yesterday. There's a few unused footings beside the track just before the train re-enters the station. Possibly for more supports...or for animatronics?

The finale will be enclosed. Alicia's layout makes it look a bit too small for AAs, but a projection scene or something of the sort would be great!

Remember when we all thought this was probably going to be lighter on theming?

So glad we're getting Ratpor Taron

Agreed... just wanted to check with the experts and get some clarification. Personally believe that the footers are for track supports given the layout. But I believe there will be something at the finale... just trying to nail down something more concrete.

Ya shame on me for waiting to get onto the full hype train until like quarantine time tbh lol. I guess I just never expected a pure high speed thrill coaster to be super duper themed but boy am I glad Universal is more than happy to prove me wrong.
