Not to get too off topic, but… I don’t think it would’ve been a stretch to have a flying Delorean for BTTF, even if it wasn’t canon in the films. Doc Brown is a scientist who turned a Delorean into a Time Machine. I’m sure we’d all believe he could make one that could fly.

On topic, I guess I get where both sides are coming from. It kind of reminds me of The Incredibles representation in the parks. We got Incredicoaster at DCA instead of an AA heavy dark ride, but it’s still a popular attraction regardless.

Whatever they end up doing and whatever the theme will be, I’m sure this new attraction will be a crowd pleaser.

About the long Ecto-1, tho: isn’t it possible that they do a configuration similar to Hollywood Drift and have a few 4 seater Ectos per train, that spin. It would actually be the perfect system if they do any minor indoor show scenes where they can spin the vehicles to face the action.

Throwing this out there--but the perk of the Intamin MDC as seen with the original Hollywood Drift leak, was the intention to have each singular ride car as part of the full train be custom themed and custom made.

Assuming the coaster present here is the same one in ride systems as Hollywood--it wouldn't matter if it was a set of high speed cars or if it was a set of Ecto-Ones. Both would be doing the same purpose and same trick, while also being specifically made in mind for the ride they'd be making.

About?

The post I was replying to was saying it would’ve been harder to justify a ride vehicle in BTTF the Ride that could fly (hover), if it wasn’t already established in the film. I was saying that it really wouldn’t be that hard to justify, and that creative liberties and suspension of disbelief are used all the time in theme parks to explain the conveyance system, within the story, for an IP based attraction. As in if Uni wants to do a GB coaster, they will be able to explain why the ride vehicle is what it is, even if it wasn’t established in the film/media series.

Whole lot of debate in here for a ride that will inevitably just be F&F lol

I'm a bit behind here - but are we expecting that they may actually tear down any SSs for this?

Doesn’t seem so. Same footprint as Rockit, plus a little bit of backstage parking behind the soundstages and a small portion of Fallon’s never used outdoor queue.

Hilarious that they built an outdoor queue for a ride that "doesn't have a queue"

To be fair, it was probably wise to have some contingency plan for if their unique queuing system didn't work as it was intended to. It wasn't enough room for a full extended queue, but it was at least something to fall back on.

Excited to see how the area between Hard Rock and the USF entrance transforms. At the moment it feels like wasted/dead space, so hopefully they can add some more track into this area to provide some more kinetic energy.

I re-read it and it makes more sense now lol, I thought you were originally saying that it was like a fact that the Delorean never flew in the films

I feel like we all need to not get our hopes up of ever getting a Ghostbusters ride at USF, of any kind, let alone a dark ride.

I get that. Especially with MIB in the same park (though let’s be honest, that ip is deader than FNF and GB combined, no offense), which is basically the same type of experiene our dream GB ride. That being said, I could 100% see a spooktacular show or like a “rays occult books” store or a restaurant or something. I do think they have a place at least somewhere. Of course, they could suprise us all, and a ghostbusters attraction replaces Jimmy Fallon.

But this begs the question. If we assume fnf is the coaster, and Simpsons is Pokémon, than what ip do they replace supercharged with? Nevermind ride system, what do they own that would they choose?

Agree on Ghostbusters being the IP that makes the absolute most sense. The IP has been brought back to life (pun) with the success of the recent movies and seems to be as popular as ever. Combine Universal's desire to always bring something fresh/new with fans' pleas for wanting to bring back the classics and nostalgia- and it makes perfect sense. Plus, it would be cool to welcome it back in the area it used to live in, I mean the facade of the building where the coaster comes originally WAS the Ghostbusters' firehouse. It's a win-win and such an easy fix.

Spongebob, if we got it--which isn't that unlikely considering it's going into Universal's park in Frisco, TX--should replace Springfield and I'll die on that hill. It would make so much sense. Such an easy re-theme of Krusty Burger into Krusty Krab, could put Sandy's Texas BBQ in that same food court, a vegetarian spot with Pearl to replace Lisa's, even the Chum Bucket. Duff could be re-themed to a fun tiki bar or Weeny Hut Jr's if they really wanted to lock-in with the theme lol. Simpsons ride replaced to Mrs. Puff's boating school...the Kang & Kodos could be Jellyfish or something similar. But I know...unlikely...but one can still dream lol.

I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again. Toon lagoon, replacing the comic strip lane and the the theatre as a mini-area with some shops and a dark ride. Doesn’t have to be anything massive, just some shops and a krusty krab. Really that’s all toon lagoon would need and it’d be fine.

And on this topic. I know we, me included, all want A classic ip ride at USF. I think it’d be a good idea personally, have one more to balance the rest out. What always catches me hanging, is what ip, and where realistically? If you’re gonna do one, it’s gotta be one that can hang long term, and big enough to catch GP’s eyes.
Only two real places I could see a hypothetical classic ride going realistically is eventually either replacing Fallon or supercharged. And personally, I don’t think bttf is the Ip. Would love to hear what people think on this topic. Sorry for rambling a lot today.

You know what, you are absolutely completely right. It makes a lot more sense to put Spongebob in a water ride area. How did I not think of that? lol.

What about a King Kong Coaster?? It’s already in New York. So the theming would make sense. Having Kong in both parks wouldn’t be a big deal. Universal doesn’t mind at all with HP lol

Also, forgive my ADHD because I’m kind of hopping around here and someone may have already said this but on the topic of Ghostbusters…and the debate of roller coaster v. dark ride…has anyone thought that that would be a good replacement for Men in Black? (probably a dumb question I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir and just missed it somehow.) Think about it: it would work sooooo well to do a Ghostbusters shooting game/ride in MIB...just replace zapping aliens with catching ghosts with your proton packs. The theming could be incredible really.

If not, would love to see a swap of FF: Supercharged with a Ghostbusters dark ride and then just replace RRR with a F&F coaster.

Or build another Sky Fly with Kong in the middle.
