Never cared for these movies, but can easily admit the series would make an insanely gnarly maze (same thing I felt about Terrifier).

I mean this with 0 disrespect, but ive seen a good amount of "popular haunt influencers" post stuff like "guess ill have to watch the movies now!" or even along the lines of "is hellraiser relevant?"

It's just genuinely confusing to me why you would have an interest in an event called "Halloween Horror Nights" without even having the slightest interest in watching the classics?

There are a LOT of horror films, and people have their preferences. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it (unless I caught in syndication as a kid) but, even if I hadn’t, I don’t really gravitate to the story or vibe. As such, watching it is a very, very low priority.

Some people actually like the taste of vanilla. Those people need extra incentive to eat Phish Food.

Dude, social media has opened my eyes especially within the haunt community. I grew up on Hellraiser. You can tell who’s an influencer by the lack of knowledge/history they have with horror. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but I’m astounded with how many people with subscribers don’t watch any of these films. It happened with Terrifier and that’s recent. It’s as if they woke up one day and went to HHN just for content but ended up liking it so now, they’re tryna catch up on what hardcore horror fans have been on.

I say this somewhat out of hypocrisy as I used to be very active in the HHN updater community back in the day, but as I get older, the term “influencer” in general just makes my cortisol levels spike.

Yeah, this is actually summed up perfectly. I guess it just irks me a little seeing the stuff I was made fun of for liking in middle school and shoot even earlier :nervous: be the most popular thing to like now. But you are 100% right, its all for the content.

Funny thought. Out of the first three films, the most powerful cenobite is Dr. Channard. I’m curious to see if the cenobite version of him will appear in the house.

Do y'all remember the Saw Twins? lol

Anyway, very excited for some of the environments in this one, particularly what is in Part 2. Funny enough, I think I've only seen the first 3 movies and maybe noped out while watching part 4 or one of the DTV sequels, and pretty much haven't followed it since until that Hulu reboot which was...okay.

Do we know if Clive Barker is involved at all?

I will say I am surprised by so many people I follow who love HHN are not into Hellraiser, and no shade at all. I know I've never seen 2/3 but more interesting because most the general public seem pumped for this

It does show how big the HHN community is (in a good way)

Also want to say Terriffer house last year was my favorite house, but I do not care for the movies much. Not saying they are bad but they are mostly not my thing, I just like Art as a icon and the house for me was just super fun and well done. So not like you need to see or love a movie to like a house
(Same with WWE house....I have no interest in wrestling but great house with really physical actors who killed it)

The first one is a top 5 film in general not even horror for me, but the fact that they are doing 2 & 3 is what has me VERY hyped

The quality of the films simply just aren't that great when compared to its contemporaries. I think it takes a certain amount of forgiveness to be into them. Story-wise and Pinhead's look are cool, but everything else is kinda lacking. Another major factor is most of the franchise was DTV, so a huge chunk of the fanbase immediately nosedives and stops caring. Kinda reminds me of Phantasm, Children of the Corn, Amityville Horror or Puppet Master -- there's enough fans to keep them going with a small budget, but not enough to keep them popular enough for theaters. They're titillating enough for horror hounds but not quality enough to catch a general audience. I bet most fans excited for the property haven't seen all of the sequels, and that's fine -- my guess is most have seen the first one or at the very least know of Pinhead's iconic look. I imagine there will be a LOT of confused people coming out of the maze when it's not necessarily Pinhead popping out of booholes the whole time and it's a lot of weird cosmic, torture horror.

As for as I know, no one has mentioned the back of the Hellraiser shirt (now on sale at both the parks and Citywalk stores)
