No, they took it down. May not have meant to be live yet (even though linked through their event planning website).

I'm curious to see if they eventually allow non-hotel guests to exit the park into Helios if they have dining reservations.

Anyone know how that's handled at Grand Californian?

It’s not too late, the link got taken down but it’s still accessible if you look hard enough. You can see all the rooms including the suites.

grand Californian was in/out no restrictions if you even had dining reservations/resort reservations. Never checked either way out there.

So my wife and I are going to Epic opening day and have reservations to stay at Helios that night. As we can’t check in until the afternoon of opening day our game plan was to uber it over to the park with an overnight bag and store it in a locker until the late afternoon when we’d go check in and drop the bag in the room to beat the possible chaos at park close.

Do we think it’s likely that we’ll be able to use the dedicated Helios park entrance at the back of the park to enter for check in given we can show proof of reservation? It would be a real hassle to have to leave via the front gate and get an uber around to Helios.

I don’t think we know this information yet. But of course it would be much more useful to use the back gate so I really hope so. It would make sense for guests checked in to be able to go into the park, but we don’t yet know if you need to already have a room key to use it to get back in. Definitely something to call and ask Universal (maybe multiple times as it gets closer, until they know the answer).

They really should have just opened Helios the day before with no park access. I realize park access is one of its perks , but people would have happily paid to utilize the new entrance for grand opening

People online freaking over the parking fees— for some reason they don’t seem to understand this is to discourage parking at the hotel and going to Epic.

It could be possible they are trying to gather everyone for the opening at 1 entrance - if the Helios entrance was open, they would have "2" opening day crowds, which would make optics much more complicated.

Having the hotel booked for media & executives just makes sense. Total of 500 rooms, easy to fill that amount with hundreds of influencers, executives and other media guests for opening festivities.

Honestly this is what we were hoping. I really hope they let us get there early to atleast drop our bags and attempt to check in. Im sure Universal is thinking about how to handle opening morning. Worst case we will probably try getting there at like 2-3am and if we cant get in just go over to the regular parking with everyone else. I would really really love if Universal came through though and let us actually use the back entrance (especially as we arent getting early hours opening day).

Yeah - I wouldn't head to Helios until closer to check-in time.

If they were strict for the Space hotels, they're going to be even stricter for this.

Do you think so though? I feel like this is somewhat a different situation and Universal probably knows a decent amount (if not everyone), is hoping to use that dedicated entrance for opening. I wouldnt be surprised if they do force us to wait, but I also wouldnt be surprised if they do allow confirmed guests to "check in" early. Im probably just being too hopeful though at the end of the day.

Trust me. When VB opened, they were strict about guests entering their garages, too.

Good to know! Did they make you wait until closer to opening? I am unfamiliar how this was ran.

Garages opened at 6am. I believe Opening Ceremony was 8am, and guests were allowed in right after.

Can you clarify what you mean by "strict for the Space hotels"?
