Outside of Fallout, that’s the most unappealing IP lineup I can remember.

And WWE… My friends and I would always joke about the 2000 WWE house in Hollywood as a sign of how far the event has come and how low-rent parts of it used to be… and now they’re apparently going back to that well.

Still very excited. I’m sure Fallout and the originals will be great.

I'm interested in knowing (after the fact, of course) whether Poltergeist has been speculation tossed around solely because of the Hollywood facade's seeming re-use or if there were more props/pieces spotted by insiders that strengthened that speculation.

Whether it comes to fruition as the house or not, I'm pretty intrigued by how quick people jumped to "Facade of a generic 2-story home is exactly the same as the facade of a generic 2-story home from 2018!". I find it equally plausible that HHN Hollywood would reuse a creative element such as a design template for a "ghost story that takes place in a home" facade (one that didn't perfectly mirror the Poltergeist film set anyways) as I would for them to rehash an entire house from start to finish. So it's tough to tell, and that's what leads me to believe there must be more chatter & more evidence amongst people in-the-know.

I don’t watch any wrestling but I really hope the house ends up happening. It seems so off-the-wall that I can’t help but be intrigued.

As mentioned before, Tent 3 and 4 could absolutely hold it. After all the new tents essentially replaced the parade buildings, so they're plenty big for whatever house that requires ample space, height etc.

I agree it could definitely go in one of the larger tents from a design perspective. I guess the question is, would the rightsholders not want it there, based on the assumption that a tent is "less prestigious" (less impressive seeming, back of park, etc.). That seems silly given that there doesn't seem to be a huge correlation between whether soundstage or tent houses are "better," but when you think of the big IPs from the past several years, most have been in soundstages (or the parade warehouses).

IPs are always in the eye of the beholder. I’ve been to 12 HHNs and there has never been an IP lineup where I’ve been excited about more than 1 IP since 2007.

There are plenty of IPs that I think are cool and would work as a house, but that doesn’t mean I’m excited about them. But that also doesn’t mean others aren’t.

I was never a Weeknd fan. Still am not. Thought his house was cool though and people still rave about it.

All that to say, I would argue this is one of the stronger IP lineups in recent memory:

You mentioned Fallout. Which has a large fandom.

FNAF has a huge following.

Terrifier’s following has been growing with every movie to the tune of a $90 million box office for Terrifier 3 (which for context was more than Trap, The Substance, Speak No Evil, Heretic, Night Swim, The First Omen, Strangers Chapter 1, Imaginary, Immacualte).

Poltergeist is a classic and the 2018 house was mostly well received.

And I don’t like wrestling, but Wrestlemania just had 124,693 in person attendees over two nights and 1.3 billion live minutes of viewership when both nights are combined. So needless to say it still has a huge following.

I’m not EXCITED, by any of the IPs, but they all bring something unique and a large fan base. So I think it’s a very strong lineup.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the rightsholders have ever dictated where their property goes in terms of house location.

Generally, the location of a house is determined by what the house itself needs. If A&D feels a house needs tall sets, specialty rigging for bungees, flyers, then it's going in one of the soundstages or Tent 3 or 4 as they have the necessary height to put them in. A great example is UCM: Bloodlines last year, as that was in a newer tent and had a flyer with the She-Wolf in the forest. That could not be done in the smaller sprung tents or F&F.

The only other specialty thing I can recall for location was 2018 as I think they purposely had Stranger Things in SS22 to keep it as secret as possible.

I think y’all agree on this. Casper isn’t saying the speculated lineup is bad for business, just that he isn’t interested in it. Which, fair enough! As always, I’m more keen to see what the originals are anyway.

This is correct. If they want an IP that requires more restrictive access either due to secrecy or recognizable people involvement (like Dan Aykroyd for the first GB house), they’ll put it in SS22. Big scenes get big venues. Lots of rigging gets hard buildings (SS or parades when used). Smaller scenes get tents or queues.

Rights holders typically don’t know a lot (if anything) about the venue options, and the pitch is centered around A&D’s envisioned interpretation which dictates location. It’s not the other way around.

I'm not saying Fallout couldn't work in one of the new tents - just that the house I've built in my mind would require a soundstage lol

Aren’t the new tents pretty much the size of a typical soundstage house?

Could Universal use the "Halfway to Halloween" as a starting point for announcement season? With this weekend being the start of sales for certain retail stores such as Lowes and HD. Maybe Universal will capitalize on this and release something by the end of this week or mid next week.
Wishful thinking, i know lol, but seems logically like a great starting point with it being just before EPIC and using the hype that comes with other retailers pushing the holiday!

am I the only one not interested in any of the speculated IPs this year? Never been a WWE fan, never played Fallout, think Terrifier is overhyped. I’m interested to see what they do with them, but definitely more excited to see what the originals are this year

I love Fallout. If it comes, I expect to blow my money on Vault Boy merch and nuka cola.

Nothing else appeals to me, but that's the beauty of HHN. There's something fun for everyone!

I am in the same boat as you. With that said, I've learned not to rely on the IP as an indicator of the house's potential success. Big fan of Beetlejuice, disappointed by the house. Not the biggest fan of Frozen Empire, loved the house last year.

I can see WWE being interesting and Terrifier being a gorier take on a Halloween house. Fallout is the one I'm skeptical on as it's another apocalyptic based house that we tend to see every other year or so.

You are definitely NOT the only one. I was literally just thinking as I read the speculated list that there isn't really anything there that gets me excited. In fact, it's difficult for me not to just eye roll my way out. I will admit I am not a "gamer" in the sense that a lot of you clearly are. I have never played Fallout nor have I watched any of the show. If it comes to HHN, I guess I will have to check out the show. It's just.. well, how many apocalypse type shows can one watch? I guess if that's your thing.. good on you. I do watch Last of Us and enjoy it very much.. but do I want another end of the world type show taking up my time? Probably not.

As for FNAF and WWE? I guess my 9 year old grandson would enjoy it. Will I? Doubt it. I am NOT disparaging any of you who enjoy this stuff. I'm happy for you all if you get what you want. I've always said that there is usually a really nice mix of houses to choose from, but this lineup seems way more directed at a very specific stereotypical crowd which I, unfortunately, am not a part of. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that Orlando does such stellar orignal houses as these are where I live at HHN anymore.

I guess I'm just kind of disappointed (I know - nothing is official yet) because there is still quite a rich canon of horror films that could be adapted that have never been, and we're sitting here discussing how WWE will be made into a house. I mean....

I just need to stop talking as I really do not intend to offend anyone. This year is my 20 year anniversary of attending HHN and I was hoping for something awesome like The Conjuring or The Thing or some other classic horror that I grew up with.

Friday the 13th is also coming with this lineup. I think it’s the attempt to satisfy those fans of more classic slashers.

So, I love the Fallout games and the TV show was excellent, It's not really horror though so I'm a touch skeptical (also terrified of the potential radroach room lmao). WWE I'm not excited for just because I'm not sure how that'll translate. FNAF worries me because of the crowd its going to bring in, which is a similar concern to WWE honestly. Terrifier won me over with the 3rd movie, but idk how they'll be able to successfully translate those movies given how violent they are. They'll definitely have to tone it down to a certain extent. If Poltergeist happens then as long as its not a scene for scene remake it should be good.

My biggest concerns are that the biggest IPs are not really horror, but are more horror adjacent.

There was no F13 on the latest spec map. Doesn't mean it's not happening cause people do keep referencing it, but I don't know if its as likely as some of the others listed.
