I was able to attend last night.
I liked the setup of the soundstages in being able to get to them without exiting back into the park. I only went into two houses up here so not sure of all the queues. The AC was certainly kicking in the SS that housed the FNAF queue! I forget if it was this one or if it was Graves of Flesh, but one had you leave one queue just to join the covered one that they used in the past (almost like a long hallway between sound stages).
When I was back and the newer tents, I was lucky to ride the rain out while under the tented queue, but boy does it get HOT and STUFFY and we seemed to have no air flow under that thing so not sure what I think of it.
The event seemed to have less dead spots this year yet oddly I found it creepy how dead things where near the Macy's side of the NY scare zone, not the zone itself, just approaching the construction walls in an area that use to be such a bottleneck was now dead, I think part of what made it odd to me was how quiet it seemed in front of Fallon and that whole walk towards the library. I am pretty sure I always would walk by the water passing in front of Diagon as a sort of break but this area was a total fog zone this last night, nothing really happening, just a lot of fog which filled in more of the event compared to last years' dead zones.
NY had a lot of scareactors out on the street, I felt Crooked Lane needed more scaeactors. (TM preview night tends not to be 100% up to staff based on past years I've attended).
I was certainly saving experiences for when I can attend with my spouse, so I did not try for everything. I tend not to rank houses as I tend to like many for many different reasons/aspects. Anyhow, some thoughts on the houses I did do:
FNAF -- The puppets/animatronics are such high quality, I cannot fathom what was spent to make all this happen. Fans of the franchise that I spoke to told me it delivered for them.
Graves of Flesh - I enjoyed this one, liked the look -- the last part has a pretty tight long walk where the scareactors have the opportunity to be relentless when they find their groove.
Jason's -- fun good run for me -- many many Jason's to deal with -- another one that has a long tight walk at the end just wanting for the TM's to find their groove, was a little surprised it started inside and then had an outside portion before entering the tend portion.
Galkin -- I just love the scale they can get in the newer tents. I found a lot of cool looking creatures in this one, a lot to see, and many things to help freak people out or at least make them uncomfortable.
Dolls -- something about this house, it's pretty twisted. I think they did a great job here.
I did enjoy the scare zones this year. I do think this will be a great year.
OP asked about vibes -- sorry, it is a bunch of TM's enjoying the first peak at HHN34 -- you lot think there are fans around here but TM's are the biggest/nerdiest of the bunch and they bring a vibe not matched when the public starts getting mixed in!
