I like having a much more subtle, personification sort of icon. Lady Luck is literally the personification of Luck. Point being, this route I think, works very well, they did something similar in 2008 and it worked well then too. Where there were those wink and nods to Blood Mary throughout the event but she wasn't visually assaulting you constantly at the event.

Once more, we take some of the focus off the icon and we get stronger houses. I'm not saying the two are directly tied together but I am saying that taking some of the focus off the icon hasn't hurt the event.

I just hoped they could have done more with the gambling, casino and maybe even old Vegas and mafia themes. I definitely agree that subtlety is good, because if it's too theme-y and in your face it can get cheesy. Maybe it was the best approach.

Also agree that the little glimpses of Mary and her influence around the event were great. They were subtle, but they were noticeable.

Bloody Mary was actually scary though. Lady Luck is just too subtle and weak, in my opinion. I understand how some people appreciate the approach, but I'm not a big fan of it. I don't mind the icon being taken out of the houses, but the scarezone is pretty weak for an icon's zone and we've already discussed the mask.

Exactly! Plus Mary just looked and was awesome :p

Nice!

I have a question. I am REALLY interested in getting a deck of cards this year. Has anyone seen em? What do they look like? how much do they cost? Pics?

I personally didn't see them, but I wasn't looking for them. From what I've read, they are $10.95 and the only special design is the back which is black with the HHN 21 logo.

Yea, they are hard to find. I only found them at the Universal Studios Store and they are generic playing cards with the HHN Design on the back. The fronts are just normal playing cards, no scary designs or anything.

I also read on Nightmares that (user Pumpkin) bought a pack at the Twister store yesterday. They probably have a limited amount they put out each day. Either way, I was expecting something more than a regular pack of cards with the HHN logo on the back, so it might not even be worth it... :(

Yea by the end of the night they were all sold out, but if they were just regular cards with a logo design on the back I guess I'm glad I didn't buy them.

--- Update ---

Also is that giant in this pic?

Ahh ok, I thought either this guy was him or someone in SnS this year looked like him a lot.

Yeap and we all look alike too, my buddies kept telling me "hey dude look, its your brother"

Last year he was in Scarepy. He's been doing the event for years.

Yeah you can recognize some of the scareactors who do it year after year. I want to say he has been in Silver Screams, Creatures, and Hellgate I think.
