Just to add two cents, it hasn't even been a week since Blumhouse acquired the Saw rights -- I feel like the ball is too far rolling with HHN that trying to suddenly shoehorn in Saw somewhere just because they have the rights now with barely over two months to go to the event just isn't feasible (or necessary). I'm sure it won't be long until they announce what/when their plans are for the franchise, but the earliest one should ever expect to see it at the event again would be next year.

Saw is happening next year for sure. I would be fall-to-the-floor shocked if they didn’t do it again. It’s will have been basically a decade since they last did it and it was awful lol

I honestly think if there is a chance to scramble to have some sort of representation of the IP; especially with SFMM seemingly backing out of the use of SAW at their event; that if it's in Blumhouse's ability and control that they could find a way to quickly get classic SAW represented.

Stranger things have happened at the event before, even if this would be a very small and last minute change.

Saw is for sure happening next year, but for sure not happening this year. They’re already too far along in construction. The event starts in 2 1/2 months.

I don’t really want Saw back as a maze, but there is SO MUCH potential if they fixated it into a Dreamworks’ Theatre experience

For a Terror Tram, you could easily throw Saw victims in there. Some traps on the head, people cutting themselves on a table -- easy. Random Jigsaw soundbytes. Wouldn't even need a full set to walk through. Not saying I think it will happen, but we have seen last second scrambles for much bigger things happen.

Also, I think I understand everyone's lament about this year's properties if we're going by last year's quality as any bearing of projection as to how this year will fare in terms of quality. It's totally understanable to be weary. I have hopes FNAF can be fun and F13 can bring back that old school feel, but in a weird way, it's totally relying on them. Fallout might be cool to look at, at the least, but I have no real desire to hang out in that world. As it is, I plan to visit Vegas, so Scarecrow (depending how much of that is the same there) is of no appeal to me. Poltergeist was okay the first time, so if it's the same repeat, meh. I hate Terrifier. WWE is silly AF, and I am a huge WWE fan, but just no. Blumtram was the only highlight for me last year, but the fact that the tram was a saving grace at all, is doubtful it can bring that energy two years in a row. Monstrous more or less kinda just felt the same last year, so it almost feels stale at this point in the way the UCM mazes started to get stale - my hope is they don't cover any familiar territory so that it fully entirely new. If someone straight up said, "I'm not interested and I'm not going," I totally would believe them at this point -- now IIIII would never personally say that as I'm always willing to give it a shot, but as it looks, I might be going only one time again this year like I did last year. Even if it is a fun time, simply because the properties have no real pull for me. I've gone at LEAST twice every year since 2011 up until last year -- HHN feels like it's trending downwards if I can just shove it away in the "once is enough" bin. Again, that's just me personally, but I can help verify that feeling others are commenting that it's not just all negativity, doom & gloom -- maybe the event will always have fans, but it's not crazy to say some of it's old school fans may possibly start dropping off the wagon.

I used to watch more than 50 movies in theaters every year. I haven't stepped into a movie theater in two years. At some point, I had to come to terms with the fact that the movies haven't changed — I've changed. And that's okay! You're not obligated to love the same thing your entire life, and certainly not to the same degree you always have. But I don't buy that Horror Nights is in a fallow period, especially compared to those early years when so little was offered at the event.

Feel like a complicating factor with BlumSaw is Lionsgate still owning 50%, which opens a whole can of worms with clearances. Saw as a couple rooms in a compilation house feels ideal for that property though, means you're not eating up a bunch of actors on random traps. Maybe a James Wan Blumhouse maze? Insidious has some rights weirdness but they can do it with M3gan and the upcoming Incidents Around the House?

Re: IP, eh. I feel I'm a fair bit younger than many on this forum, so maybe I just had to be there, but I remember the old forums back in the 10's being full of black wall complaints, and now we're getting theme park-level AA's in multiple mazes. Time giveth, time taketh away. I think WWE is corny, but a big budget Jason maze? Yes please!

This discussion about Saw is telling me that many of you guys aren't reading beyond the headlines and/or aren't following how things work in terms of incorporating IP into parks.

Blumhouse/Atomic Monster does not own Saw outright - they just now have a 50% controlling stake in it and can therefore develop new films under their label. Universal has no role in this deal. Blumhouse /=/ Universal.

In fact, Lionsgate retains its slice of the Saw franchise and reserves the right to release new films. Does history tell us Lionsgate is more than willing to work with Universal to promote its horror films? Yes, of course, which makes another Saw house or experience down the line likely, especially if/when they produce another sequel. But Universal has no vested interest in getting Saw into Halloween Horror Nights this year. Blumhouse might, but that would require working with Lionsgate and other partners to approve an appearance. Are they really going to want a shoehorned, last-minute tease as part of an attraction that will not feature Saw as part of the marketing? Almost certainly not. (I'm also surprised you guys keep assuming Blumhouse Terror Tram is a given, considering there's a lot of whispers to suggest it isn't!)

It's also worth adding that the Blumhouse compilations usually solely consist of the films Universal has a stake in, and usually serve as promotional material for them. The A-list Blumhouse properties (FNAF, Exorcist, Insidious) have all gotten their own houses, so I don't see Saw being relegated to a short segment of a Blumhouse mash-up if it returns to the event soon.
