I don’t have a problem with repeats at all every HHN is someone’s first. I might be able to get my dad to go through this for the first time.

I didn't even love Last of Us but...if it came back cool...or some of the houses I missed like Krampus

Now this doesn't mean I want them to go the Knotts route. I'm just saying one repeat and if its a good house, I can live with it

I mean, I know its a scarezone...but I'm down for the Crowz to be back this year..I love the costumes

If only Grim Stitch had kept that video unedited, if only…

In all seriousness I’m of two minds. One—yes it absolutely sucks that this seems to be a flat out repeat even if the exit is being reconfigured a small bit. But in the other—it is the best original house they’ve done and I think it serves as a nice chill spot when it comes to what I imagine will be a stacked Lower Lot.

I think for newcomers, this will absolutely be their favorite or atleast in their top 3; but man I hope they throw a few curveballs in this.

I’d love a krampus repeat. Last of us on the other hand I did not really care for I might skip that one.

The only repeats I wouldn’t mind having again are AWIL or Silent Hill. Mainly because I would love to see them in with a sound stage and a proper budget to work with.

AWIL would go hard with Chucky/La Lechuza/Death Angels-esque animatronics tech..

I’d stand to think if AWIL or Silent Hill returned, they’d be from the ground up completely different from that of their previous incarnations.

Helps in the latter atleast, considering Silent Hill 2 just came out for PS5.

The whole point of a repeat is that it's relatively inexpensive to reproduce. That goes for the physical production itself (do we still have the sets/masks/etc.?) and the accessibility of the IP (Killer Klowns is probably easier to nab than, say, The Last of Us). It's why we see so many original houses getting repeated in recent years (Curse of Pandora, Holidayz, now probably Scarecrow).

Honestly it’s why I wonder if H-Lot North might actually be The Thing, because I wonder what the status is of the ADI molds.

If they can salvage and use them as they can, then they’d already have a head start in the ability to use them for a house.

I do think it's a really, really weird choice to do a Scarecrow house in Hollywood at the same time you're premiering a semi-permanent iteration in Vegas. I'm guessing they were able to piggyback on some production costs, but that's going to create some really avoidable SEO and marketing problems.

Using the same name as the Hollywood house in particular is a puzzling decision.

If scarecrow is the only repeat I don’t really care about it coming back.

I wonder if in part of it is because of the larger IP's rumored for the event this year--that they need to find a means of cutting corners where you can overall in ways that make sense.

Outside of the commission of new custom masks from Grim Stitch; odds are they have everything they need to easily bring it back (with the only real changes being the H-Lot North tent style coming to T-Pad and the potential exit configuration post finale). I also wouldn't put it past them if they did a La Llorona situation where 2011 and 2012 had differing names in the process of identifying some kind of change.

Just idle speculation on my part, but it also isn't exactly as if they are leaning in and having Universal Monsters or The Exorcist this year. More people will lean and focus in the terms of the GP, on that of the big brands than Scarecrow at Horror Unleashed (Even if it is a little bit odd).

What SEO problems? Organic search results are geotargeted, so it’s not like people traveling to or living in Vegas will mistakingly think have to go to Hollywood to experience Scarecrow (and vice versa). It won’t have a negative effect on marketing, either. They’re building on the Universal horror brand and Scarecrow is part of that. The Venn diagram of HHN goers and UHU goers does not overlap nearly as much as everyone here thinks it does.

There’s no real indication UCM isn’t happening this year. In fact, given the Slash confirmation, there are more signs pointing to it coming back.

I didn't say someone is accidentally going to end up at the wrong destination to see Scarecrow. (Not that that would necessarily matter, since it'll be at both...)

I'm pointing out that any announcements about Scarecrow in Hollywood and articles about Horror Unleashed (which will naturally prominently feature Scarecrow) are inevitably going to compete with each other if you're basically anywhere other than Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Search engine geotargeting tends to not be as precise or smart as I think you're suggesting unless you explicitly use geotargeted keywords (i.e. Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood).

Horror Unleashed doesn't even have Vegas as part of its official name. They do appear to be realizing the issue here, as I just checked -- the meta title now refers to the destination as "Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas."

A simple fix here, as @Jake S alluded to, would be to give either version of Scarecrow a different subtitle. Maybe Hollywood will get a different subtitle, which would help alleviate some (though not all) concerns.

Disclosure: I work in SEO.

Now I need Crowz vs Scarecrows. Why couldn’t we get that instead of a straight up repeat…

“You and your Scream Squad are caught in the middle of a gory war between a bloodthirsty murder of Crowz, and a horde of demonic scarecrows. Can you escape the fields alive? Or will you be their next harvest?”

Yeah I was weary before but I think @viking_wizard_eyes may be vindicated. With scarecrow coming back, I think there’s no reason a UCM house isn’t.

I don't see how there's a correlation between these two different things...?

I still think UCM isn’t coming because of what I heard last month, but I’d take another Monsters house any day of the week over WWE. Honestly, if we don’t get Monsters that will be a bigger issue for me than any of these repeats
