But, that gives guests an 'option', which they don't have if there's no Express....and many guests split vacations between the deluxe hotels and the values.

Stop, just stop. You're constant need to "yes and" posts is now claiming a thing super fans do is some sort of thing everyone does. Stop. Charlie Borwn did not have hoes.

How about you stop just stop . You started challenging since that's kind of your thing. I know, you like to be rude.

It's a forum, I'm entitled to answer criticisms, and some vacationing posters have agreed with me. My posts aren't mean spirited. :)

You're no longer a moderator, for one reason or another. Quit acting like one.

Some people liked Express for Hagrids, some didn't. I was one who liked it.

I think the conversation is mixing two different discussions between “my personal experience with Hagrid’s express” and “what guest behaviors are”. Thats where the discrepancy is coming from. Two groups talking past each other. No one is saying that your experience is wrong, but it is not indicative of the patterns of all tourists.

Exactly.

You're welcome to your opinion on what type of experience you prefer (I too hate waiting in lines and spend too much money on hotels). But that does not need to be conflated with what most guests are experiencing. Most guests do not have Express pass — the whole system would fall apart if that was the case.

A agree....but....I never said most guests have Express. Of course they don't. I'm not stupid. I know the stats as well as anybody on this site. I look at the numbers every day. My main point, and that is what you guys keep skipping over, is what @TheCodeMan95 said below. That's a significant situation. And, Express is a nice option for a vacationing guest,.

I get what @Mad Dog is saying - in the sense that Hagrid's always has a long wait, but locals theoretically can come back to the park whenever they want to try to ride it again.

Whereas with tourists, they have a set amount of time at the parks and they may not want to spend a large chunk of one of their days waiting for 1 ride.

I'm sorry, what?

and...that's a major reason 'tourists' primarily book vacations at the more costly hotel express hotels. That makes their vacations so much more leisurely and relaxing.

Yes, referring to the Deluxe hotels....not the others....Heck, the deluxe hotels. even get guests from WDW that ghost a room (book but don't occupy) to get the express hotel passes. ...Just about every hotel survey I've ever received from Universal asks how important was express to why you booked the room.....Of course I said 'a' 'major' reason, not every reason. You guys are misrepresenting my intent.....Express is a fantastic extra, and the less expensive hotels don't have the hotel unlimited express, obviously. ....Just speculating, but I would venture a guess that Sapphire would fetch a higher price point if it had Express and Royal Pacific didn't. Many here have said it's the better hotel.

Just to put a bow on this:

Tourists have been conditioned since Day 1 to rope drop Hagrid. They were even given the “trip hack” to stay on-site and take advantage of EPA since Express wasn’t an option until recently. The other option, was to wait til the end of day, which is when locals usually got their fill in.

That’s not to say people opted for the Express last year when it became available, but I’d wager guest behaviors didn’t change despite the addition.

You make a good point. Yes, that's true for many, probably mostly the younger guests. We rode Hagrids a number of times when we were at Portofino in November. Never early though, and the Express line was more 30's, middle aged, and families. Just anecdotal of course. So perhaps the Express was more helpful to that demographic. Express was generally about 15 to 20 minutes, a bit more than other express lines, but not bad. I would think Saturdays after 4 would have been the only real long times since Saturday is kind of AP day, and many Premiers. When I would do my daily TP check, the express times they actually monitored for Hagrids was usually in line with what I experienced. Of course, holidays would be a different ballgame.

BUT -- as many have said, locals tend not to want to wait, they were going at the end of the day to try and got on easily -- but the top tier pass having Express after four most likely started to bring more locals out to ride since they now had Express -- same w/ folks w/ unlimited Express -- these folks are most likely want a night ride while they have Express -- so I feel adding Express made the Express queue much more popular after 4 while in the past, it was the standby queue getting hit at the end of the night.

But isn't that kind of my point? Locals were already the group most likely to ride later in the day. You're arguing Express may have increased that behavior, which yea probably, but that idea is still built on the guest patterns I mentioned.

It's just as likely that many of those guests were already riding it and simply shifted from standby to Express.
