Are the comments similar in design or a 1:1 replacement. Just hoping that the guys who did the indominus for Jw the ride and kong have a hand in the rework. Their animatronics are smooth.

Glad to see it appears to be getting a full rebuild, but I'd still expect for the worst, hope for the best.

For me, the staging of the Ultrasaur scene is just as bad as the general condition of the figure itself. The motion profile doesn't begin until the boat is well into the scene, where riders have seen several seconds of the Ultrasaur being completely static.

The easiest (and remarkably inexpensive) fix here would be to put a large rock in the water between the boat's path and the Ultrasaur's resting position. This would block the line of sight as boats enter - riders would only see the body and tail of the Ultrasaur, not the motionless head. Then, the Ultrasaur could rise into position, creating an actual "wow" moment instead of "oh, huh" awkwardness.

Isn’t this a really bad timing issue and the Ultrasaur is actually supposed to move as the doors open?

You would think, but I don't believe so. Even in Japan, which closely resembles the Orlando build (albeit mirrored), the in-full-view Ultrasaur remained static until three or four brutal seconds into the scene. The ride there had just come out of refurbishment in a park with otherwise pretty impeccable show standards.

Furthermore, I've simply never seen the Ultrasaur motion profile fire in concert with the doors opening. It's possible the timing is meant to be different! But I've never seen what would make rational sense actually play out.

Yeah, my assumption was always that it was either supposed to move as the doors opened, or that it was simply supposed to already be up when the doors opened

Aesthetically, i don't think i can get behind "big rock," Clive. lol

Without changing the fundamentals of the scene in any way, or how the ride itself operates, wouldn't the easiest thing to do be changing the Ultrasaur's motion in general?
Have it always standing tall, neck elongated - mouth chewing on plants hanging from its mouth. Mouth has a circular rotation of the lower jaw animation always going - doesn't have to be anything too dynamic, just a slow rotation joint. The top 20% of the neck sways gently with the chewing to stop people from thinking the entire thing is static from when the doors open. Then, only when the boat approaches or when the boat passes the trigger for movement, it lowers the other 80% of its neck to crane at the passing boat. Play a smaller sound of chewing and groaning as you get closer, and play the same kinda "moo" we already get when it passes by.

The neck-breaking reveal is already awkward, just take it the other 50% of the way it needs to turn it into the big cow that it already is: It stand. It chew. It look. It moo. lol

I don't disagree with you at all! I was just trying to propose the cheapest/easiest possible solution. Obviously, a reprogramming and retiming of the scene would be preferable, but that's apparently not something they're willing or able to do.
