If they want to promote ScarJo’s catalogue they could do Don Jon but Joseph Gordon-Leavitt has been replaced by a Velociraptor

I think post-Epic something may be likely. They’re going to be looking for reasons to push people towards USF and IOA (although mainly USF), and a retheme/renovation of an existing attraction would be a far more cost-effective way to do that than a new attraction. A JPRA-redo may be a quick and easy draw for IOA immediately after Epic opens to fill the void before the Lost Continent replacement.

As for theme or scope, I think something akin to what was done with Spidey. The same story is retained, but what worked was heavily refurbished and what no longer worked was replaced with modern technology to achieve the same general effect but better (like the 3D screens for Spidey). I think it wouldn’t be unreasonable for the JP theme to remain. I’ve heard that JW Rebirth is going to liken back to the original Jurassic Park in tone as well as story, opting for the grittier, smaller scale of the first three movies rather than the modern, global scale of the JW trilogy.

If the franchise continues to liken back to the original movie, it would make sense for its theme park representation to be the very thing that everything else seems to be drawing from.

If it were up to me, (blue sky incoming) replace the ultrasaur with a film accurate Brachiosaurus, refurbish the Stegosaurs, replace the Hadrosaur with a more reliable animatronic that will actually appear on the ride for more than a week at a time, add a crashed Ford explorer by the raptor cage, move the Dilos to the bottom of the lift hill (there’s a dead spot here almost like in the 2019 version of Hollywood’s redo) replace the raptors with film-accurate models that aren’t put to shame by the Velocicoaster versions, add the Hollywood T-Rex head from the ceiling where the Dilos were (very cool effect), and renovate Rexy to move and look like her Japanese counterpart (Lately our Rexy looks like a statue with a slowly moving head where the Japanese Rexy actually looks like a real Dinosaur).

These changes alongside a new soundtrack and script would be a cost-effective way to market a NEW AND IMPROVED ATTRACTION for IOA before they finally put Lost Continent under the knife. If they won’t replace Lost Continent until 2028-2030, doing this in late 2025 or the first part of 2026 would give the park a quick and easy draw for guests.

I think the perfect balance is a general enhancement like what you described but the skins on the Dinos have the designs from the new film, which are rumored to be strikingly different.

An account I follow rounded up leaks about the film and attempted to illustrate the new skins for the dinosaurs and I think this would be really fun. (These are just rumors until we see footage ofc)

Especially in the first lagoon and in the concrete area around the raptor paddock.

They should really add a second ultrasaur (or Brachiosaurus if they do what I’m suggesting) almost like Hollywood had.

The area around the raptor paddock is pretty barren too. The fighting compys look like rubber dog toys lately and are technically an animated prop rather than an animatronic. After the second Hadrosaur, it takes all the way until the first lift hill raptor to see another true animatronic. That’s why I suggested moving the Dilos down to this area to liven it up and maybe add a stationary crashed jeep or ford explorer to give you something else to look at besides the concrete walls.

My biggest gripe is actually the music (or lack thereof). Aside from the brief segment from the film when the gates open, the rest of the attraction is eerily quiet expect for the narration and dinosaur groaning sounds. JP/JW as a franchise is built on the iconic John Williams score, and the attraction should showcase that. Where’s ’Welcome to Jurassic Park’ during the herbivore scenes? Where’s ’Raptors in the Kitchen’ during the indoor scenes? Music can control our emotions and the way we perceive things, and while I agree the ride could use more Dinos, I think the lack of a dramatic soundtrack makes it feel more barren than it actually is.

I know that animatronics are expensive but more dinos could be simple without much movement. just drinking water or sitting by the river. just peaceful

They have a hard enough time with dino maintenance & upkeep, yet you want them to add more things that will be neglected over time.

I'd just be happy with the existing ride being properly refurbished & looking fresh at this point

What do you think the reason for that is? Old animatronic tech and harder to find parts to fix? Just plain laziness?

It's always just so disheartening to see what could be such an amazing ride always come back from refurb looking...the exact same.

in my experience, it's a lot easier to ask for a large sum of money to build a new thing than it is to ask for a smaller sum of money to keep the new thing in good working order.

I'm thinking of the men in black ride and how not all the aliens move, if I remember correctly a couple of aliens are just statues, or their eyes only blink, some of them turn around, but I remember some of them not doing anything.

does this happen on et as well ? not all the little aliens move. right? I gotta check videos.
but having statue dinos wouldn't be as bad

The issue with statues on JPRA is that you are moving slowly through each scene looking for story elements, while on MIB you're distracted as you interact.

MIB has a lot of moving aliens, but they have rather simple & quicks moves (like the alien coming from the dumpster that shoots you, he just pops up but is essentially stationary).

I don't think stationary dinosaurs will work on JPRA.

they don't have to be front and center but there's a couple of places where they could go. a couple here and there could make the difference.

While I can see the point, if they’re going to spend money I’d rather have them invest to make the current animatronics showstoppers. The reason we’re even talking about this is because some extra stationary or limited motion dinos would fill the scenes and maybe take some attention away from the poor condition of the primary figures. However, if Uni was going to spend money anyways, why spend money on a band aid rather than just fix the problem itself?

The ride could certainly use more dinosaurs especially in the opening lagoon and raptor containment areas, but I’d almost rather see them use money to fix what they have rather than slap a band aid on it. Best case scenario they’d do both, but if it came down to either or I really think they should fix what they have

yeah that's true. but compared to Dinosaur at animal Kingdom, Jurassic Park always felt so empty. I wish we could get both, get good new animatronics and also get more dinos ( maybe now universal can buy the dinosaurs from Disney lol :nervous:)

Spend the money to get the Creature company to make your new animatronics. Even if it is just inside the building, imagine dinosaurs moving like in the JW exhibition. It would make the ride feel alive. Thats all this ride needs. It needs to feel alive, not feel like "pirates of the Caribbean for 3/4ths of the ride.

Rode during OI meetup last weekend. Some effects were working, some weren't.

Coming towards Rex, you could see the outline through fog. It looked amazing - I had never seen its legs and body so clearly before. It was great, until we kept moving...and it didn't move at all.

Story has a happy ending, though. As we approached the Rex/drop, a team member over the PA went "roar. Roooar. ROOOOOAR." I've never laughed so hard during the plunge. Told the TMs they rocked for making what would've been a bummer a really fun experience.

And with that description...
Give us a Rex moment where it chases us like the Indominus chase in Beijing while you're at it!
