I've only been just outside, but I wouldn't go in there... less fear of ghosts and more of inhaling globs of dust.

It's so beautiful. Why haven't they bothered reopening it after all these years?! :(

I think the actual chain closed, but it is a shame that the building has been abandoned all these years.

Here's a critical review from the L.A. Times for those who want to travel back in time: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-03-08/entertainment/ca-2727_1_fung-lum

^ when you head up the hill past the large digital UNIVERSAL CITY sign towards the citywalk parking lot and fountain logo entrance, it's right to the left before you see the Frankenstein parking lot.

And even if it was another chain, I'm surprised another Chinese restaurant didn't snatch up the gorgeous building.

This restaurant would have never really worked today(when it opened Citywalk wasnt even open yet) as it is far from CityWalk and 90%of people are parked in Citywalk parking.

Great Post John.

If there was a way to move the whole restaurant to be used as a set on the backlot, I'd do it.

This was my family's restaurant. It openned in 1981 and closed in 1998. My parent's generation all retired and none of the kids were encourage to run the restaurant. I am very nostaglic now when I visit Universal Studios. I alway stop by and take a look at the exterior. At one time, our family had 6 restaurants, 3 in Hong Kong, 1 in Taiwan, 1 in San Jose and this was the largest. : )
