Possibly! There will be areas where actors are not avoidable, but for the most part if she’s just hanging out near queue entrances she’ll be fine.

If I were her I would’ve pocketed the admission money and hung out at CityWalk bars :lmao:

Going to HHN for the first time. Going with my wife and some friends. My wife is not into this, Will she be confronted by actors while walking through park? She just wants to lay back and wait while we go into the houses.

It really depends. If she stands tall and acts like she’s confidently scanning around her, scareactors MAY not try to startle her. The scan is important. The scareactors need to think they can’t sneak up on her. They also need to think she won’t give them a big reaction (thus the confidence).

It’s not a guarantee. Some scareactors may take it as a challenge and try to sneak up behind her. That’s where you come in. Either stay a step or two behind her, your shoulder aligned with her shoulder (ie - your right shoulder behind her left shoulder). This angle makes it extremely difficult for a scareactor to scare her without you seeing it coming. Then you just give a quick heads up.

My wife really appreciates the artistry of these events but actually gets annoyed (not scared) when people jump at her. We do this strategy and rarely get targeted.

This really only works in zones, where you space. Houses are basically single-file by design. She will get scared in a house.

Thanks guys. I think I will leave her at Portofino by the pool and head on over without her. She is a big chicken! Really appreciate the info, I'll save myself the admission price and buy her some merch. Better safe than sorry.

When there's an immersive Swamp and Medieval Faire themed zone with great scenic design in the same year.. I think it's fair to compare and criticize. And I don't think it's the concept of the zone, just the execution. Each film should have been given a more proper stage with props from the film, not a generic Blumhouse background.

Well aware, but these events are planned a year+ in advance now... there is 0 reason for these low quality zones at the event. Again, I understand that things happen, but Universal has the creativity to pull something out of nothing. Something needs to get fixed in the whole HHN planning process as scare zones are critical to the event's success.

We all knew about a potential IP cancellation earlier in the spec season, it shouldn't take more than a few weeks to figure out a Plan B. (Yes, I'm simplifying it)

I know I sound harsh as I have yet to provide a full review of the event - the rest of my review will be very positive as I disagree with the "HHN is cost-cutting" idea floating around here. It's very evident in 2 scare zones, but outside of that it's hard to label that idea across the event this year.

I don't know about budget but I had expected them to put a projector and big screen and play trailers from their movies and play the moving logos. seems like a big missed opportunity.
something that could be simple and eye catching.
I know they have projections on the walls with the names of the movies,

and the choice of characters is kinda weird. maybe it really should just have been a full purge zone lol.

I was about to say, the zombie swamp zone would have been a much bigger problem lol. that one is much creepier and they are scarier.

imagine being a performer who's told you get to play one of Universal's most iconic characters only to walk out of the makeup trailer looking like some kind of furry goblin/leprechaun hybrid.

There is NO WAY that's what Wolf Man looks like in the new movie. I refuse to believe it.

Man, the combo of the awful design, amateurish costume, and cheap tarp background…

Proof of concept for a Big Trouble in Little China house would actually justify this meet and greet's existence.

strike yet another tally mark in the "What happened to the event I love" column, really getting crowded in there lol. Surely that can't be close to the movie design...right? .....please?

kind of looks like an older version of Jack Nicholson from WOLF. a more realistic werewolf perhaps.

I actually really liked that WOLF MAN logo and image of the house. I liked that font.

Wouldn’t a more realistic werewolf look like… a wolf? Not a cross between Rupert Murdoch and an agitated mouse?
