To make people spend money easily without realizing their spending it.

They don't think like that. They think of the money they possibly could make off of this.

But as many hotels as Disney has, there's so many more guests staying in Orlando in the surrounding areas. They should worry about getting each guest to spend a little more, rather than scamming onsite ones.

Ugh.

Hokie, you forgot to mention that according to sources (leemac), NextGen has blasted past the $1Billion mark and is well on it's way to $1.5Billion.

Such a great thing that both major Orlando Theme Park Destination Resorts are undertaking $1.5 Billion expansion projects. What kind of ride is this NextGen thing? A Roller Coaster?

It's amazing how fast they've blown through that money. within the resorts, are they just going to charge the values for fastpass+ (as i've heard) or will it be all (which would be moronic...especially DVC). This could easily blow up in their face, so they better have a very well thought out plan for when they announce it officially.

Wait... this next gen thing is costing 1.5 BILLION?!

WHAT?!

With that money, they could put attractions in the empty buildings in World Showcase, fix DHS, finish AK, and fix Splash.

Oh I'm sorry, those would be nice things. Why should we expect that from Disney?

Wasteful and inexcusable!

Dunno if you guys know already, but they're adding NextGen entrances to Epcot and Magic Kingdom, probably the others as well, and there's a Nextgen reader near all major attractions in those parks.

Haven't been over to DAK lately, but DHS is well on its way to receiving NextGen as well. I know they're doing NextGen work at DAK right now (ugly wall just behind Guest Relations at the front of the park), but I don't know how far along they are.

It's Disney. They have all the money in the world, but TDO wastes it on things like this. Bob better slap Meg on the face if you ask me

Can't say anything about my source other than they're in a position to know, but I've heard new Fastpass is supposed to be in place by late Spring 2013. Which kind of shocked me but explains why they're pushing ahead on this like it's Transformers/Splitsville.

Just an FYI from something I heard a while back, DHS is supposedly NextGen headquarters. With WDI even taking over a very visible "unused" building to conduct testing.

It's the soundstage next to Midway Mania where the Monsters Inc coaster was set to go (preliminary work even started there in 2008)

I've heard mixed things with the coaster. I hear that a.) it's on after next gen testing is done b.) there are offices in there now and probably won't be moved.

I'm not really sure who to believe with that....

The new site has launched, and it sounds like I'll love Fastpass+ considering I won't have to wait at all. For free. FOR FREE.
