This includes, Straws, Coffee stirrers, and plastic bags. Plastic straws will still be available on requests if someone with a disability requires one. The paper straws, currently in use at Animal Kingdom, will be phased in to replace the plastic straws.

Are the paper straws durable enough to handle shakes, frappes, and other thicker drinks? Smoothies, etc.

Don't be crazy. You can make money selling balloons.

I wonder what they will replace the large plastic merchandise bags with? Paper would disintegrate during the afternoon rain storms.

Make you stay on site and have goods delivered straight to you room. Worse yet, they could adopt the British view on paper bags and start charging 5c for each one.

Supposedly if you want a bag, you're going to have to buy a reusable one for a "nominal" fee.

Which is what SeaWorld is doing. Paper bags are 10 cents but they encourage you to buy a reusable bag.

Pretty old here. When I was young nearly all straws were paper straws. They held up well with thick milkshakes, and such, back then. I'm sure they'll be fine now.

“The company also said they will reduce the number of single-use plastic shopping bags in owned and operated parks and on cruise ships, offering guests the option to purchase reusable bags.“

Between this quote from the article^ and the infographic, it sounds like Disney is just going to be pushing reusable bags, while still keeping plastic bags.

The problem with reusable bags, though, is that they tend to be more rigid than plastic, which makes them more difficult to deal with and to stow away on certain rides.

No one is mentioning how they decided it was a good idea to announce Ziploc as the new Splash Mountain sponsor in the same day?

Disney World is plastic free! *

*unless we're giving away useless plastic bags from a company giving us money.... instead of building or providing a locker system...

Seems like free, but "first come, first serve" each day. And they are specifically logo'd for Splash Mountain. So...
A.) Expect the lifestylers and bloggers to ruin this for everyone
B.) They'll be on Ebay soon
C.) You're creating more waste by specifically making and/or detailing the bags

Fail.

Yes, this replaced Duffy.

Well, they took over sponsorship from Sharpie to be exact.
