I WOULD BE THRILLED WITH A CANES!!! Even though there's a few down the street... having one at Citywalk would be a game-changer! It'll be insanely popular.

I don't particularly care for Cane's (and I lived near one throughout college), but this is a big get for Citywalk, even if it feels a little disappointing. I'd expect heavy, heavy foot traffic, especially in that location.

Oh My God. This should be in the State of USH thread, it’s that serious.

Canes fans are like Dr Pepper drinkers. Completely loyal, obsessed with and devoted to the brand. I’ve never met a Canes fan who simply “likes” Canes. This place is going to be wildly popular

Even though there are other Canes nearby, 1) the one down the street from USH (at Lankershim and Vineland) only has only outdoor ordering and dining and not a lot of parking, and 2) the one in Burbank has next to no parking whatsoever.

So now that APs have (mostly) no more restrictions on parking, this makes it the easiest Canes to visit. So I fully support this. :grinning:

From conversing, the teardown internally within the store is being done quick too. I wonder if they're rushing to try to get a new tenant in ASAP.

Eh... they seem pretty content with vacancies. Besides, just like all the other abandoned locations, it has the required "Pardon Our Stardust" poster

I really, REALLY want CityWalk to have a Korean BBQ restaurant of some sort. That’s the biggest wish on my list. I could really go for some brisket and beef bulgogi before HHN.

Would be cool but it would probably suffer from the CityWalk “up charge,” meaning it would cost way more than just going somewhere similar outside of the park. My biggest fear of the rumored Raising Canes coming is that it’ll be almost x2 the cost as a normal location.
I guess you’re paying for convenience but I always just end up eating outside the park for the cost saving.

I hear you. That’s also a concern. If I’m having a Taco Bell craving I avoid the CityWalk one as much as possible with how much it costs there.

So apparently Things From Another World’s online store is shutting down at the end of the month, leaving only three physical stores open in the country—two in Oregon and the one in CityWalk. They’ve said they’ll continue to be open, but with the dwindling of their physical locations over the years and now this — and before even considering the CityWalk purge that’s been happening — I can only imagine the CityWalk store’s days might be numbered…

That's unfortunate. You'd think with Sanrio & Line Friends, a nerd store like that would thrive... however, Citywalk isn't like Downtown Disney/Springs where people just go to it. Especially with it being up the hill from hell + $$$ parking. It's just not enticing like when it first opened.

Honestly, they need to shuffle things around & give us Taco Bell Cantina. Yea sure one would argue about the Antojitos existence would make it pointless, but I'd see it as an upgrade

Also since we already have a dragon in Citywalk, can we just get our own version of Epic Universe's "Blue Dragon" in that empty space? lol

My ideas to save Citywalk -
- They need to expand/ reprofile Citywalk to the drive up from Universal Studios Blvd. (eat some of the parking on the first floor for goodness sake's IDC)
- have some lite-nightlife options back
- FREE OR DISCOUNTED PARKING FOR LOCALS AFTER 6 PM
- more local venders

What? No themed mini-golf? Bowling? Jekyll/Hyde bar? Dracula's KBBQ?

Bowling makes sense. The rest can be considered once Toothsome/ NBC Sports Bar can figure out how to attract a crowd.

Maybe toothsome needs a retheme, rebranding, new menu that also isn't $$$ for "meh" offerings

I'm offended that they replaced A&F with the NBA store across from it... maybe THAT is their half-assed poorly thought out plan to attract a crowd to the Sports Bar

They learned nothing from Disney's failed NBA experience that replaced DisneyQuest.

I'm still of the moderate belief that these escape rooms might backfire and not be that popular, as much as I appreciate Universal doing something different to push CityWalk forward. I agree, bringing bowling (back!) or even minigolf just feels more "right," to me at least, because of the simple fact those are activities that are well-rounded -- families can bring their little kids mini-golfing, couples can do dinner and bowling/golfing, friends can have drinks and bowl, etc. They're repetitive social activities, something to come back and do again next weekend or the weekend after that, whereas once you've blown through the various themes and solved all the escape rooms, there isn't as much repeatability.

And that's not even factoring in the cost -- using Orlando CityWalk's pricing as a baseline, if something like bowling or minigolf would cost $20 a person and escape rooms could start at $40 a person, even that might be a deal breaker. A group of three could drop $60 to play some golf rather than, now, $120 to do an escape room, and that alone might keep them from deciding to see a movie after or eat or get drinks at CityWalk when they now collectively have $60 less to spend because they chose an escape room.

But who knows? I could be (and probably am) wrong, especially since the escape rooms are still open in Orlando, but I'm just worried that if they land with a thud, Universal will take the wrong lesson away from it.

I’m just gonna say it: Antojito’s is overrated. It’s fine, but there are far better Mexican places.

Like I said earlier, I don’t even bother with the Taco Bell at City Walk because of the price. If you make it a Cantina like at Vegas, that would stand out!

Don't think i ever ate at Orlando's before moving to the west coast. Haven't bothered to try ours here. Maybe if it was rethemed to Day of the Dead, La Llorona, El Cucuey, Monstruos... I might be enticed lol

Taco Bell Cantina is honestly such an upgrade lol.. I've been to the Hollywood Blvd location 3 times & the 7th/Flower DTLA location too many times. It'd definitely do well in Citywalk (without inflated prices), plus it has a glitzy-glamerous vibe instead of fast food.
