Let's be honest. Citywalk has been depressing for awhile now. Really needs a refresh and new concept. I remember the days of more bars, the pool hall, the dueling piano bar, magic show, etc.

I mean look at the competition in the surrounding area and you will see why it’s struggling.

Universal I’m sure knows this.

It might take awhile to truly develop concepts that fit their vision and are successful in this location.

Disney is currently in the process of updating their Downtown shopping area at DLR so that’s a precedent to follow.

I'm also shocked that The Shoe Palace next door has lasted as long as it has.

The downfall of CityWalk began after they got rid of Tommy’s. Just sayin’.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Habit, but those chili cheese burgers went hard…..but was also hard in the bathroom.

I still miss Versailles being at Citywalk. That was some amazing Cuban food. I know the main restaurants are still open, but none of their locations are really near me :sob:

Interesting. There’s a famous Versailles Cuban Restaurant in Miami and they’re unrelated it appears.

I once had an Espresso Buzzzz from Toothsome (a shake they no longer serve (lucky me XD)) with the Heavenly Hazelnut topping, ended up not finishing it because, well, I get sick of the taste of coffee really fast. Next thing I knew, I was headed for the restroom for, well, a hard time in the restroom.

the account has four followers and two posts. there's no reason (that I can see) to view it as a trusted source of news.

Yeah it isn't like there isn't movement on CityWalk being in the process of a transformation; but until Universal comes out and says that more directly there isn't really that much else to do in validity.

Musing on a specific aspect tho--I wonder when the security overhaul debuts operationally if they will begin moving forward on the reinstatement of a proper "Nightlife" club in CityWalk. Or if they'll hold off until the Hotel finishes construction. Ideally I'd like to hope they bring back a club sooner than later; if only to see how Universal would gauge people if they were to do something on par with the Red Coconut in Orlando.

Okay so I did a photo tour of almost all the vacant locations in Citywalk (missed Raiders since i was distracted by Escapeology & forgor Carl Strauss)

Keep the popcorn & make it a Universal Pictures type store or quick-service cafe

Okay so I stopped into the Line Friends store on Hollywood Blvd the other day... OMG. So as I mentioned before, "Line Friends" is basically a kpop thing. The characters on the wall are BT21 aka the BTS characters. Other kpop groups now have their own alter-ego animal personas (from Stray Kids, ZeroBaseOne, and more). They had other random kpop merch too so I'm curious to see what this will have when it opens.

I talked to one of the employees at the Hollywood Blvd location & she said the Citywalk location will be opening this month (March). So keep an eye out.

Hate that this replaced A&F... i guess it makes minimal sense due to the NBC Sports Grill across from it. But still... blasphemous.

I didnt bother going up to the 2nd level to check progress on the two security check points. Figured that can wait until next month when more progress has been made.

Seems like a waste of a space to have it; but I quite don't know how popular Raising Cane's is. I see it compared to In-N-Out, but I find it a weird choice for Citywalk (and especially a weird choice for DongPo).

Ew. That is a terrible waste of restaurant space. *sigh*

I'd rather have seen Margaritaville relocated to Dongpo or something else entirely that isn't just "fast food".

So I hear with me conversing with @ethanuniversal and @HydraGen2299 about it on Discord. Not against it mind you; I'm just surprised they didn't think of another location altogether for it, like Karl Strauss.

Then again, having it as a magnet for the East End might not be a bad idea in the long run.

Makes a lotta sense, tbh. Fills the fried chicken gap, it's in a good location right next to the other fast food chain options, it's not a Universal brand so they're not covering operational costs or anything like that, and it's a very popular and buzzy chain that will see a lot of business.

A new sit-down option would be cool but maybe this move helps clear up space for that down the line.
