If they're going to change the program, I hope it's an addition, not a swap-out of one of the existing segments.

I agree, since Cinesational is already a really incredible show. Hopefully it's a Philarmagic-type situation where the new additions fit perfectly alongside the existing show and only serve to make it that much better.

Honestly, I'd love to see a similar thing happen to Mega Movie. I think some additional floats and IP would help that a lot more than a new scene would help Cinesational.

Several drone shows hosted by Sky Elements, including those in Central Florida, have been canceled following a drone accident at Lake Eola on Saturday. Universal Orlando has also grounded its drones, citing extra precautions.

Thanks! Yeah, I know it's something which would take time but wanted to see if there had been any rumblings yet. Hopefully Uni will make a small announcement about their return when they can!

I'll probably hold off until closer to the end of the month whether or not they're back to give some extra time. The show goes on hiatus because of Mardi Gras until April otherwise.

Saw it last night with no drones, I think it's a great show still but there isn't as much of a "wow" to the show without them.

It's good that Universal made the decision to use them as an addition instead of the main focus. As often as drones are being used they're still relatively new technology.

Unfortunately it's also a good reminder as to why you don't operate drone shows over crowds.

If they don't work Wicked into the show, they should just have a pre-show at the start with it. That's what Disney does with World of Color. They had an Inside Out 2 preshow this summer and a Moana 2 one a few weeks back.

Update on the drones:

Report reveals technical failures behind Lake Eola drone show accident that injured 7-year-old boy

The report states that 500 drones participated in the show, and five of them did not accept the coordinate data for launch.

The operators, Sky Elements, performed a "soft reboot" of the fleet before the show.

All but two drones appeared to be functioning correctly at that time. Those drones were removed from the show.

When the drones launched, they did not lift together or in uniform, leading to a loss of control and some drones colliding.

The report noted that operators decided to let the show continue rather than pause, believing it was safer for the audience and the drones to allow the performance to finish and land the fleet without further incident.

The NTSB also found that the show's charted position was not properly aligned, causing the drones to get too close to the audience.

It should be noted that Universal's setup is permanent rather than the temporary nature of this event. I mention that because there could have been a configuration issue somewhere during the setup of the holiday show:

The company proposed some improvements to avoid incidents like this moving forward - Including requirements for earlier on-site preparation, an on-call system for chief pilots, and additional training to prevent similar incidents in the future.

If they include Wicked they should include well The Wild Robot with Kiss the Sky. Wonder how many people would react if they added The Wild Robot in Cinesational?

Oooo I'd love to see some new content to this show! I've seen Cinesational multiple times and I love it, but I could definitely use an addition over a change up!

I still haven't watched this show yet... not because I don't want to, the timing just hasn't worked out and I haven't been able to see it. I think if they did add Wicked... I would easily make it a priority. That would be amazing
