Universal's making the right move to introduce these as an additional category rather than outright replacing the first generation immediately.

Price point will be interesting to see.

Huh, I was expecting it to cost $100+. I might actually pick one up at that price.

Damn dude, the clip feels a bit awkward in places, but overall this is so cool and good. What a great idea for a quest line, and what a great conclusion for it, with a whole projection-mapped animated figure you can interact with, including wind effects too. The noises sound a bit too loud, and reactions to wand flicks seem a bit delayed, but ooh, do this new wand gameplay look exceptional.

Got to battle the dueling club death eater dummy today with my new wand and it was AWESOME. So cool!! Have a few “adventures” under my belt and just picking up spells now.

I jumped the gun and tried the patronus/dementor spell before anything else, and the spell book basically said LOL come back when you can handle it. But 2nd gen haptics and lights have been great so far

Crazy how with these few changes, Universal has another $85 item for sale that people will feel they "need."

Red and gold! The tip lights have been all sorts of colors though - red, gold, purple, pinkish. It’s been really fun!

And I just crushed the dementor (after two tries lol)

Editing to add - I was debating buying the new one since I love my Harry wand, but I’ve spent all night doing spells and I could honestly do this forever. It’s perfect for someone like me who just loves *being* in the land - the adventures give me a sense of purpose as I wander, at least.

Out of curiosity, how long are the quests that grant access to the Dueling Club Tent and the Patronus Charm, and once you "unlock" them, can you access them anytime without initiating the quest again?

You gotta do the quest each time, which I get because they’re going to be the most popular.

As far as length, it’s the 4th and final task. Depending on lines for the spell, I’d say you can do it in 15-20 minutes.

I was surprised it was only Step 4, tbh. It didn't take long for me at all, besides:

I had an issue with the Pilliwinkle’s Playthings window; it kept going into "spell mode" and not "story mode," where the spell registers as completed on my quest. I had to do the spell 4 times for it to finally show the full, new effect. Saw other folks having the same issue later in the day.

I also had a similar issue at the post window in Hogsmeade (clearing up the pixies), but I'm assuming it was first day pains and shouldn't be much of a problem going forward.

It seems sunlight around noon was an issue for certain areas, too - interfering with the reader.
