Could be. Curious to hear more since IOA gets a proper non-HHN SZ but USH doesn't during HHN where it was badly needed.

Because Universal doesn't want to confuse Potter with HHN, it was Universal who didn't want to open Diagon Alley in 2014.

Why would Universal hire actors for an HHN Deatheaters show in 2017, or scareactors for Hollywood in 2019? Doesn't make sense.

Money, mostly, and some logistical concerns because the Wizarding World was the only path to get to Hill House/Pandora's Box. If it was a Jo/WB issue, they wouldn't have been allowed to turn on the castle projections/Death Eaters audio.

Everyone simply assumes Jo/WB has been the bad guy in Potter at HHN, which ignores the fact that Universal would have likely gotten approval to do such a show for HHN before investing in personnel/costumes. After the opening of Diagon, the official A&D line about why it wasn’t used for HHN was “we haven’t asked.” But (because of the Seuss situation) everyone just assumed Jo hadn’t approved it. The reality is that, for numerous reasons, Universal Orlando/Hollywood hasn’t needed HP at HHN, nor wanted it (yet).

The original Death Eaters show in Japan occurred in conjunction with their HHN. The approval is there. But, like so many things HHN/Universal, the reason something “obvious” doesn’t happen is nuanced and less simple than a rights holder saying “No.”

I’m sure it’s quite the headache for A&D. Would they include it in merch and advertising? That’s probably a huge issue with how large the IP is and how crucial it is for universal.

I think it’s less a headache for A&D and more a headache for all the other departments. From A&D’s perspective, the IP at HHN kinda writes itself.

But, from a marketing standpoint—advertising Harry Potter at HHN could turn people off from day-time visitation because not everyone understands the difference between HHN and day-time tickets. It would also make some people not want to go to HHN because HP is, very much, a children’s IP. Then what about crowds? What about merch? What about character likenesses? What about the potential bad publicity of a bunch of 8 year olds going to HHN in an attempt to see the One Who Lived then getting chased around by a chainsaw? Is all that headache worth it?

THAT is why they have been hesitant in doing HP at HHN.

Sorry to re-surface the topic, just got caught up on thread, but I agree with the Squid Games as a zone argument, as a house it would absolutely fail. But yea just make it a Purge-esque zone with actors in the green suits as the victims running asking for help. A couple of them could be running with the sugar thing licking it yelling for help, threaten people with a needle. Have the red light green light girl. Have a couple set pieces to represent the glass bridge and tug of war. Maybe a few Korean town pieces for the marble set. Have the soldiers threaten people...corpses everywhere... just need another stage with the rich guys with animal masks and the black masked guy as the zone barkers...have the organ seller team hanging somewhere...have 101 and 212 run around acting like their characters...give 101 a glass bottle or something...have the pink soldier song play some remixed version and other usual chaotic tunes and boom done....

Is it the most scary? No. But I already think it would be 1000% better than Zombieland which I thought was the worst scarezone ever, it can easily top that. I know everyone is concerned about similar themes to S&D but with how popular Squid Game is I don't think it matters...idk just my thought. And like others have said it is horror adjacent ENOUGH to be in the event I think, especially if we have sold Stranger Things to the event and I don't consider that horror either but it has enough "scary" elements that yea sure why not...

They literally hired actors, fitted them for costumes, and had an orientation for a Deatheaters show in 2017. I don’t understand why’d they go through all this effort if they wanted to keep HP and HHN separate.

I do wish they could do non-HP scarezones in Diagon, London Waterfront, and Hogsmeade in USH.

Left and right hands don’t always communicate well. I believe it happened and the fact we got a show in Hogsmeade is probably what they want to go for.

I like having the Death Eaters in Hogsmede, it adds some Halloween fun to IOA and it's creepy enough to provide some thrill

As far as a two park event, they suck, there's a ton of walking, and IOA will always be tighter than Studios and may cause more of a headache than it's worth

HHN14 was interesting because IOA felt like a madhouse, then you went over to the Studios side and it felt dead lol

Something I just thought, could we have a Yeti situation with SCarey?

The Swamp Yeti section in Slaughter Sinema was the best received and got its own house (altered of course) the next year.

Maybe the same could happen with SCarey?

I would've vastly preferred a single house represented in sCarey get its own sequel than what we got (leaning towards Cleaver).

100 percent agree

We had like 3 vingnette/mini scene (that's what I call them anyway lol) houses this year..it was just a bit much

A straight up sequel to any of those houses would have been fine

Again. It’s easy for A&D (implying Entertainment as a whole department). It’s the other departments that likely threw up the red flag.
