Yeah.. the theming in the concept art and model makes this look about on par with the theming at the Walt Disney Studios Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland versions.. which... I thought have always been lambasted for being some of their worst and cheapest-looking work but... maybe the 4th time will be a charm?

Technically we're Fourth since SHDL is opening first.

Anyway, while the land looks like the others aesthetically, we're getting better rides. Now that isn't a huge feat, but a coaster, even as mild as this is, is better than a Slinky-go-round and a Whip ride like Mater is just pure fun and low to the ground unlike the other TSL rides which ruin sightlines.

We also technically have TSMM as a part of our TSL, so, judge it as you may, it will undoubtedly be the best among a series of very weak lands.

Yeah, I was just talking from a theming standpoint.

Yeah, the Toy Story franchise, despite being a great trilogy, is not something that adapts itself well to a land. The most iconic thing from the movies is probably Andy's room/his wallpaper. His backyard is not of much importance besides getting over to Sid's.

Ironically, Cars adapts perfectly despite being a mediocre franchise.

I think the land has potential but no matter what they do, it's always going to look cheap and tacky. If they can reach out beyond the reality of the toys and jump into Andy's imagination, I think they could create something unique and original far removed from the movies.

Something like this would be a far departure.

I’m honestly shocked that this wasn’t the route they took. Space Ranger Spin is an example of the same sort of spin-off premise, and it works quite well.

Toy Story Mania is a lot of fun, but I feel like they could have come up with a more interesting concept for a shoot ‘em up ride than that we’re playing in a toy version of a shoot ‘em up ride.

Space Ranger Spin was based off the TV show though.

Could that entrance look any less tacky?

This will still more than likely be the best addition to Orlando this year, but there's really nothing to get excited about. Too bad Mickey couldn't be fast-tracked.
No the raft ride at sea world will most definitely be better. Not that anyone will care considering this is a weak addition year for disney and universal in terms of rides.

Yeah I agree. If TSMM was a new ride then I might reconsider, but the land itself and the new rides in it are pretty subpar.

I'll be in Orlando in May. I'd like to go to Pandora, but the capacity issues with FOP & Navii River Journey are keeping the lines for both at two to three hours almost all the time. There's no way I'll stand in line that long for anything. Fast Passes are hard to get, even at 60 days out, and I'm not one to stand around while Alene has to keep refreshing her smartphone to try to luck one out.So there's no way I go to AK until the lines go down. DHS is still a mess, and TSL, while good for kids, doesn't entice me to attend. Plus I'm sure those lines will be insufferably long too. So it looks like I'll be at Universal for the entire vacation, though I might possibly venture up to MK for a day. The choice for me will be, do a day at MK or do a day at VB. Haven't decided yet.
I'll let you know about avland when I go Tuesday (or try to). No FP for FoP but boat ride and safari at sunset are locked. Plan to rope drop depending on how long the bus takes from the Poly. I plan on 2 hours in line in 2 parts. One outside and one at the ride. Crowd level is listed at 2 and the weather will be cool and sunny.

On a morning magic hour day a decent strat is to drive to the park and get in line early (the busses tend to arrive a bit later). If you get into the boat ride line before full open after FOP the line moves well and you can prob get on in decent time.

The TP crowd levels on AK have been really off. TP listings of 2's and 3's have generally turned out to be 7, 8, or 9's....Good luck and enjoy your day.

Thanks, I need to park at TTC so I will just resign myself to a longer line.
